Just a few of my favourites from Saturday's event. I know it wasn't an airshow, so if mods want to move the thread to a more appropriate section, please do so.

Is the Anson in a genuine scheme; doesn’t look right?
Blackbushe in the mid 60s was my first airshow so these brought back some good memories. Thanks.

I agree with you about the Anson but unfortunately have no idea whether it's a genuine scheme.
I'm glad it brought back good memories! These shots are a bit selective as I am more interested in the vintage rather than the modern stuff of which there was plenty!

I don't think it is genuine, I'm pretty sure Ansons weren't involved with D-Day. Plus stripes are too narrow and the numbers too big. I'm not even sure about plain green either, though others will be far more knowledgeable than me.

Nice shots Andy.
Anson is hideous at present. Any of the Nanchang?

Re: Blackbushe 80th Anniversary Fly In
Thanks Paul. Agreed, the Anson is hideous and according to G-INFO wasn't built til 1950!
So far as the Nanchang is concerned, you only have to ask!! Unfortunately, it wasn't parked in a good position to photograph so this is the best I could manage.

A nice range of attendees, particularly the DH types. Even the weather appears to have co-operated.
As I have previously mentioned on your Flickr page, that DH ‘fly is a gorgeous aircraft.

Did G-BASN make it? She was new at the Biggin Hill School of Aviation when I had a part time job there in the 70's

I don't think so - or at least I haven't got a photo. It may have been parked up and obscured by other aircraft.Seafurysmith wrote: ↑Tue 14 Jun 2022, 7:38 amDid G-BASN make it? She was new at the Biggin Hill School of Aviation when I had a part time job there in the 70's

Nice set, glad you enjoyed the event. We had almost all positive feedback, could have done with some more catering. We lost the JP to a flat tyre, Yak 3 to a mag issue and a few of the vintage types didn't like the wind. We came up with a list of aircraft to invite with the emphasis on classin British types and former resident aircrft and it mostly paid off. I have a load of airside photos that I need to go through when I have time.
Re: Blackbushe 80th Anniversary Fly In - more added
Thanks Rob.
TBH I also had issues with the catering and I was asked if I’d like to speak to the manager which I did. In short he told me it was my fault for joining the queue when no one had told me to! I told him that when he stopped to think about what he’d just said he would realise just how ridiculous that was. I gave up on the burgers and bought a sandwich instead. Shortly after he was walking along the queue explaining that you needed the bit of paper with the order before joining the queue. I wonder where he got that idea from!!
Nonetheless I did enjoy the day and my thanks to the organisers and volunteers that made it happen. It was also good to have a brief chat with you.

Agree, whatever possessed the owners to repaint only one of two rare airworthy Ansons in Europe into that bizarre fictitious scheme? If it was for a film and the film-company paid for it, they could be forgiven. Does anyone know as then it was with Classic Flight at Coventry it wore authentic RAF schemes?capercaillie wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 11:33 amNice shots Andy.
