US presidential election 2020

Post by CJS »

Come on then, who would you vote for and why?

I'm deliberately not putting 'none of the above' because we all know either Trump or Biden will be PUSA come November.

Biden for me. I simply can't bear the thought of Trump speaking out loud in public ever again.

I’d vote Biden but it’s inevitable that Trump will get back in. For every smart American there are more that aren’t.

Put it this way at Lemoore Airshow last year I sat next to a gentleman of about the same age who proceeded to spend half the day explaining to me how Trump was going to invade Europe unless we did what he said and that this would liberate us like the Americans did in the Second World War.....

I am not so sure that it is inevitable that Trump will win. Of course it is said that the second term elections always favour the incumbent. In recent months though his true awfulness is being regularly exposed to one and all. The size of the attendance of the faithful at yesterday’s Tulsa rally was well below expectations.

Biden will get in but not last long, they will farm him out due to health and get someone else to take over.

I suppose the leftists automatically vote Dem even though Joe Biden is clearly past it . Imagine him being woken up at 3 am to be told N Korea has launched a missile at the West Coast.

The Dems are cruel in putting him forward as candidate but lets see who is chosen as his running mate perhaps crackpot AOC with her green new deal.
I like Trump but he is not ideal Condoliza Rice would be great but she is too smart to run.

canard67, what is it exactly that you like about him? Because I find him easily the most obnoxious individual I've ever laid eyes on.

Hard to argue.

That's as maybe Tommy, but despite all of that, despite all of the "voter suppression, mass disinformation, foreign interference, and unabashed use of executive branch power to shape events..." enough people still have to be stupid enough to choose to vote for him in order for him to beat Biden.

As far as I know, no one will actually be prevented from making a free choice on November 3rd. And the bare faced BS of the last 4 years of 45's term in office are there for all to see, should they be so inclined.

Biden has his faults - obviously, because everyone does - but my God, the daily crock of sh*** the current guy comes up with should be terrifying Americans in to voting for almost anyone else.

She would make a good president. I read the BBC list of potential running mates for Biden. Michelle Obama seemed to be a stand out candidate if they want to win although, as I've mentioned previously, do democrats want to win and pick up a post covid-19 economy? They'd just try to spend their way out of debt... Would be an interesting watch though.

Yes she would fit right in - great track record of defending the WMD lies.

Let's not forget Trump lost the popular vote, so another defeat like that, in the right states this time and he'll be like Pearl Harbor, a reminder of what can happen if you let your guard down.

Is this some American voting term?

Surely he won the popular vote as he got in?

Please explain as I am not really into politics in general and not into US politics at all.

Clinton won 48.2% of the votes - 65,853,514 votes, Trump won 46.1% of the vote -62,984,828 votes. Although Trump won 30 states to Clinton's 20.

Trump couldn't accept that he lost the popular vote. He blamed millions of illegal voters. If he wins the election this year watch him go into Twitter meltdown when he loses the popular vote.

i fully expect for there to be a second wave that he takes "very very seriously, more seriously than anybody, in fact, I said there would be a second wave before anybody had even invented the word second, let me tell you" and that the election will be postponed indefinitely

Nov could be dangerous IMHO. Trump has so many solid "fans" who think that the whole World is conspiring against them that, if he loses, some will turn up at the Whitehouse fully "gunned up" to support him and protest. These people are clearly deluded and dangerous.

Could we expand the line up to include Kanye West who has thrown his hat in the ring? That would make Kim Kardashian first lady. That must tick the box for many on this forum.
