My memory might be playing tricks on me but the area with the grandstand seating and garden seating, is it possible to purchase entry on the day at the show if they still have capacity?

Seem to remember seeing a sign at the entrance a few years ago with pricing so thought perhaps you could and at this point in time I just have an entry ticket for the Sunday but on the spur of the moment if an option I might upgrade to that area just so I don’t have to carry my chair around with me plus easy access to facilities.

Never been to arrivals day before. What enclosure is better to go to East or West?

Don’t really know the difference. Any help will be great.

Depends what you want and what end they're landing on.

If they're landing (27) East to West, you can get nice landing shots from East and also anything back tracking the runway to park up the Eastern End will taxi right past you. From the Western End (09) you can get nice de-cluttered taxi shots or head on shots if they roll right the way up the run way.

If they're landing West to East (09). Then have a lie in.

😂

A reminder that West is a lot less of a bunfight, but can be frustrating if stuff turns off early.

Has anything been said regarding the Typhoon/Spitfire duo at RIAT?
Other than they'll do the 'Heritage flight' flypasts & break, probably after the Typhoon finishes it's solo, what more is there to be said?
I mean has DBH announced if they will fly together? I have seen it already, so know what it contains, I just don't remember updates saying if it will take place at RIAT.

The RAF announced it would be happening "at a number of airshows in the UK this year" a few months ago, it happened at Southport....so I think it's a certainty it'll happen at the largest UK event personally

Unless it can't be shoehorned in in RIAT's flying display.

I'm sure it will have been factored in long ago, so no shoe-horning needed.

It's a few minutes extra as part of the Typhoon display.

IIRC (which I probably don't!) the BBMF display after the Typhoon. The Spitfire will head off to do some local flypasts (or just pootle about) after the Typhoon/Spitfire passes and the Lancaster and Hurricane get going when the Typhoon has finished.

At Cosford I believe (going by my photos order) the BBMF displayed first then one held for the Typhoon arrival before forming up and coming in.

Same for both days at Southport this weekend. BBMF followed by the Typhoon display with that flypast sandwiched.

I thought the display time had been extended over the 8 hours now? Looking at my tickets it says flying ends at 5pm not 6pm but website says 9:45am-6pm

Reading the 'F-35's to UK thread' I noticed it was mentioned that the squealing pig needs protection from the sun. Wonder if Lakenheath have applied the factor 50 to it? It'll be sat outdoors for 3/4 days in roasting conditions :joy:

Am I reading too much into it when the website says SOME of our special flypasts for RIAT? Will there be anymore that we don't know about?

Was discussed a couple pages back, no ones sure! In the RIAT email it says ‘last flying update’ so who knows!
