Watched a bit of 'The Morecambe and Wise Show: the Lost Tapes' yesterday........think it would have been better if they'd stayed lost, things have moved on a bit since then.

Last night I watched Bob Monkhouse's last stand up appearance in summer 2003. It was on BBC 4 really good.

Having watched series 5.2 of Vikings, I'm disappointed.
It's gone all huggy-fluffy, with a severe lack of mindless gratuitous violence, sex & more violence.....heck, even the resident Orc ( Bjorn Ironside ) has gone tame, although he still looks & thinks like an Orc.
Hopefully series 6 will get back to normal.

Haven't watched as it has aired yet, but really looking forward to the new three part BBC adaptation of The War of The Worlds that is due out this year.
From the trailers it seems far more in line with the novel than previous films, especially Speilbergs effort. :hide:

WOTW must be the in thing at the moment.
Not only is there the BBC version, as I mentioned in another topic there's also a series in the pipeline by Fox/Canal Plus ( set in the present ) :

Watched the final episode and the NY special episode of Dr Who.
Looks like my theory still holds true, that all the episodes written by Chibnall are utter crap.....even if, for once, the baddie actually got killed in the NY episode.
Wonder if they'll extend the 'no new series' policy for more than a year & quietly kill it off again?

Two Netflix offerings - the latest Black Mirror: "Bandersnatch" is excellent, and truly ground-breaking, and a Norwegian drama series "Occupied" which deals with a hypothetical (but totally believable) modern-day invasion by Russia.

Both well worth investing a few hours in.

As per my previous reviews of 'Occupied' - I take it you're referring to the first series, because series 2 got a bit too unrealistic with it's multiple plot-lines & silly scenarios?

While checking out early evening Saturday night telly recently I had the misfortune to stumble on 'The Time It Takes'. I didn't stay long......it has to be the biggest load of steaming wotsit that I've seen in a very long time indeed.

Watched Season 1 of 'Slasher' on Netflix over the past few days. Quite gory but fun. Nothing too intense re a story line (just what I like in the evening after a long day at work) but was enjoyable nonetheless.

Just started season 2 yesterday, the chainsaw attack was particularly brutal yet quite amusing

More episodes of 'Vikings'....still a let-down compared to previous series.
Think there's 3 more in Series 5 to go.
By all accounts the next series will be the last, as it's been binned.

Ditto 'Z Nation' apparently, so there's only series 5 left to watch

Watched Ep1 of Season 2 The Punisher on Netflix last night. Absolutely awesome, so glad to have this series back.

Likewise, Ep1 of Season 3 The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime, these guys are back on top form. Loving the Exorcist, but that Mustang.............

On BBC iPlayer....the first episode of Lucy Worsley's latest series 'American History's Biggest Fibs' - the American Rebellion.
Personally didn't learn anything new ( didn't expect to, really ) and suffered from the old problem of trying to cram too many events into too short a timeframe.
Disappointingly, the 'history pixie' didn't indulge in much dressing-up in this episode ( made up for it with the marching band cheerleader outfit, though  )

Episode 2 covers the American Civil War.....hopefully it'll upset people by debunking the "it was about slavery" myth ( not holding my breath on that, though....it'll probably play safe & perpetuate the lie )
Episode 3 ( not been on yet ) covers the Cold War.

Episode 2 of 'American History's Biggest Fibs'.
Again somewhat superficial, spending most of the time discussing everything but the actual ACW.
As feared, most of it concentrated on slavery.
Thought they may have covered events prior to the Secession, in particular John Brown's actions ( although would it have mentioned that the first person killed by Brown during his raid on Harpers Ferry was a free black railway-worker ? )

Das Boot. Been waiting for this since I saw it advertised for airing towards the end of last year but then it was delayed for some reason. Couple of episodes in now and looks well crafted.

Presume you mean the new version ( which, from proper reviews I've read, isn't much cop ) rather than the classic series from the late '80s?

It’s already available on DVD.

Yet Netflix have removed Series 1 + 2 and Amazon has the rights to Series 4.

It appears no-one in the U.K. is actually going to show Series 3!

Going back to an old post......
Just noticed that Series 1 to 3 are now available free on Amazon Prime, if anyone's interested.
