Presidential Election 2020
Re: Presidential Election 2020
Biden went on national tv told trump to do his job and do the same he wont. I agree that I think this has back fired Trump is a modern nazi no other way of describing him. He has just released a video tweet or whatever. telling folk to go home whilst still going on about how he was robbed!

Hasn't Trump turned on Pence today? That may not be the craziest suggestionPat Murphy wrote: ↑Wed 06 Jan 2021, 9:59 pmPence urged to invoke 25th amendment, basically remove the Orange One from Office.
Re: Presidential Election 2020
What's the point? Trump has effectively removed himself from office since the election anyway. His sole motivation to get up in the morning for the last 2 months has been to overturn the result, he has done nothing presidential whatsoever. Biden is already leading the country.Pat Murphy wrote: ↑Wed 06 Jan 2021, 9:59 pmPence urged to invoke 25th amendment, basically remove the Orange One from Office.
Re: Presidential Election 2020
The point is he wont stop he will cause havoc the next 14 days and I think some republicans have just woken up to this.

Re: Presidential Election 2020
It isn't the fact that he is president that is motivating people to storm Capitol hill, it's the fact he's not going to be president, so forceably removing him from office isn't going to make this disappear is it? Quite the opposite.
Re: Presidential Election 2020
Except for two things - impeach him now and he’s an impeached (and convicted) president, and also, I think many of his supporters are obviously fanatical. They believe, they think there’s a plan and a chance that what they’re doing will work.
It’s a powerful statement to remove him from office against his own terms.
A statement that truth, decency, justice and the rule of law prevail against conspiracy, hate, division, and discount cheeseburgers.
Again - people must face consequences for their actions. Even if “there’s no alternative” or “the damage has already been done so what’s the point”. It’s about justice.

Re: Presidential Election 2020
That's one way of looking at it, the other statement will be "they stole the election from me, now they are stealing the President from you"
Quite a rallying cry that.
Didn't someone once say "the bigger the lie, the more people will believe it"
Now if only I could remember who it was....

Re: Presidential Election 2020
Maybe, but again, rallying cry or not, it should not be preventative of someone facing the consequences for their actions. The same way that one doesn’t allow the prospect of martyrdom to stop a terrorist for being convicted. It’s a worry, yes, but justice must still prevail.
In my mind, anyway.
What Trump has done, and is doing, is very clearly impeachable. Christ, it’s 25th Amendment-worthy. Against all else, he needs to face those consequences.

Very sad scenes. To paraphrase an old saying: “Never underestimate the power of a democratically elected lunatic with access to Twitter”.

Wonder what's likely to be causing Trump the most upset just now - losing the Presidency or having his Twitter account locked.Tomahawk wrote: ↑Thu 07 Jan 2021, 12:38 amNot for at least next twelve hours....Ken Shabby wrote: ↑Wed 06 Jan 2021, 11:44 pmVery sad scenes. Twitter also warning Trump could be banned.
Melania Trump's chief of Staff has resigned.
Re: Presidential Election 2020
Indeed. To lose your life over something that will change nothing is so sad. Four dead !

2. Losing the presidency.
3. The deaths of four people.
In that order.

I think maybe 1(a) is having Mike Pence unfollow him, too.

Re: Presidential Election 2020
my favourite bit about last night was brexit politicians and fans comparing last night with the anti brexit marches, which last time i checked didn't storm parliament
Re: Presidential Election 2020
Interesting point made on radio 4 wondering how an armed BLM march on the Capitol would have been dealt with.

Watching it live, it was noticeable how slow the authorities were to respond. Didn't think it would take long to get a couple of Apaches to hover over the mob.

Just mentioned on CNN "How can a man deemed too dangerous to have a Twitter account still has the Nuclear codes?"
CNN reporting that Some Cabinet Members are holding prelim talks about invoking 25th Amendment.

People like Dan Rather, who have held politicians of all sides in check for decades raising concerns about Trump are noteworthy.
He’s not “just another” president.
But, naturally, as with everything else, it won’t matter. America’s a tinpot third world country in any event. Far too many voters will vote for him not matter what.

I effing hate that man with a passion, since long before he was el presidente. However I don't want him removed from power with 2 weeks to go. If he is, then Pence may be able to give him a presidential pardon, before Biden is sworn in.
America is the laughing stock of the world today, and I hope all the folk who backed and voted for the dayglo turd are feeling proud of themselves today.

Perhaps if you support Chinese or Russian politics but I'm not laughing; it's far too sad for that. As for the comment above about BLM. There's something far more fundamental than black prejudice in the USA. Perhaps we'll have White live's matter, or women's live's matter or military veterans live's matter now? Trump was the symptom, not the cause. Is Biden the cure? I suspect not.
