Search YouTube for "wake me up", you'll soon recognise it. I'm no dance music fan, I'm really not, but I am a music fan and just sometimes you get a track or an artist who you can genuinely see is groundbreaking, regardless of what you think of the genre they represent. He was one of those.

Dunno, but according to the BBC that Avicii fella still is.

They've been reporting it repeatedly on News24, playing various clips of his songs....still never heard of him before yesterday !

I tend to avoid this thread, because it's depressing, but I was deeply saddened to hear about Avicii. To me, an amazing artist and musician. His music is part of the soundtrack to some of my life's fondest memories. :sad:

I borrowed a hard cover copy of "The Right Stuff" from Woking library when in my teens. They only had one copy. I loved it and read it over and over again. Eventually, the overdue fines were so big, I just kept the book and paid them for a replacement. I still have it. Superb writing.

Met her at a couple of shows in 2003. Also met Ray Wilson the same year and was more shocked at him dying at 83 than her at 69!

Alan Bean - lunar module pilot for Apollo 12 and commander of Skylab 3 has died, aged 86. He spent decades conveying his experiences on the Moon through his own paintings.

Really sorry to hear that. If I remember correctly, he inadvertently pointed the camera at the sun while setting it up, therefore preventing it's use during the extra-vehicular activity, otherwise known as the 'space walk'. Incidentally there was an excellent programme on the box recently about Gene Cernan, who I understand has also died recently. All my hero's are sadly gradually fading away. :sad:

Very sad to hear of his passing. Yes Alex's he did accidentally point the camera at the sun causing a shortage of footage (and give the UFO and conspiracy nuts a field day) He was one of the pioneers he will be missed. It also means there are now only 4 men alive who walked on the moon. that is a shame, we didn't progress. Like you all my heros are slowly leaving us.

The "Last Man on the Moon" doc is still on iPlayer I think. Wonderful stuff. The part where he reads the letter he left for his daugher if he didin't make it back. Massive lump in the throat moment. These men were amazing heroes.

Serge Dassault, son of the legendary Marcel, fourth on France's 'rich list' and the man primarily responsible for the development of the Rafale, died on Monday of a heart attack at the age of 93.
