Jimmy Greaves ( :worship: ) nicknamed him 'deadly Doug' because he kept sacking AV managers.

Maybe a link would have helped, then, given that not everybody is a football fan.

After all, if I posted that Denzil Davies has died, the overwhelming majority of people on here wouldn't have a clue who he was.

Jeez Brevet, a link might have helped. I had to go and Google him and everything...

I like Huw Edwards's comment on Twitter; "He never served in a Labour cabinet while far less able people did." Pretty good put down if you ask me!

Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with his childhood friend Bill Gates, has died. He was 65.

Allen’s company Vulcan said in a statement that he died Monday. Earlier this month Allen said the cancer he was treated for in 2009, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, had returned.

Good grief! Starbuck is making a joke about brash jumpers, the sort that aviation enthusiasts and late 80s Italian fashionistas might have in common. That's what Benneton was famous for along with amazing advertising which celebrated diversity in often provocative ways.

Not much of a joke if people don't realise it's supposed to be one.
Which is a common failing with written - as opposed to visual - interaction.
Hence the existence of emoticons such as  and  to give people a clue.
