I don’t normally post such news, but as a fan of World of Sport wrestling that I watched every Saturday as a child the passing of Tom Billington (AKA Dynamite Kid) was announced today. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... thday.html

Takes me back to 1978 when my then wife played Buzzcocks until my brain rotted and I hated the band. We separated in 1979, he had a lot to answer for. RIP.

I met him a few times when he lived in Belmont near Bolton. He was a thoroughly nice chap who would always had time for a chat.

Wasn't a fan of their music, however Pete Shelley re-mixed the track 'Give it to me' for the awesome Channel 4 theme tune for the 'Tour de France' in the mid 80s. Loved that theme, pity there is only a semi decent track of it on you-tube, would have loved for there to be a HQ re-mastered full version of it somewhere.

A sad loss.

Not perfect but any means, but as politicians go we could do with a few more like him (by which I don't mean dead, before anyone suggests it!).

I saw Paddy Ashdown speak in Edinburgh a few years ago at the Book Festival, he was extremely entertaining and came across really well to the audience. As someone else has said, we could use a few more politicians of that calibre.

Actor Donald Moffat.
Amongst other things, played the Station Commander ( Garry ) in the original version of 'The Thing' & President LBJ in 'The Right Stuff'.

And for those who remember her art history programmes back in the 1990s, Sister Wendy Beckett's also died.

Sister Wendy Beckett, a Roman Catholic nun who interrupted a cloistered life of prayer in England in 1991 and soared to international stardom with lyrical BBC documentaries that made her one of the most improbable art critics in television history, died on Wednesday in the village of East Harling, England. She was 88.

An obituary posted in The Times yesterday.

Kristian Ward - Royal Navy Sea Harrier and Harrier pilot who flew 160 missions, in 4 deployments, over Afghanistan.

He was the son of "Sharkey" Ward, the famous Falklands War Sea Harrier pilot and died on 15th November at the age of 45.

Too young.
