That's no mistake. The scheduler probably thought they were being clever with a bit of subliminal messaging. It's just so obvious now.

The link below takes you to a graph buried on the BBC website and shows a different scenario based on how things are panning out in France and Spain, in addition to the one Whitty tried to scare the nation with yesterday.

I don’t know if it’s been given much publicity; please tell me if it has and I’ll shut up. But if it hasn’t, why not?

Bill Gates has done more good in the world with his billions than the rest of us can only dream of. This is in spite of considerable adverse publicity perpetuated recently by a whole range of conspiracist nut jobs linking Gates, to Covid via 5g and mind control through vaccination. I believe he will taking this matter extremely seriously. We are familiar with the phenomenon of people misinterpreting odd or awkward facial expressions. Priti Patel fell foul of this on more than one occasion.

What exactly have I said? I have not said Anything bad at all, all I have done is defend myself against constant attacks just because I do not share the Exact same oppinons about everything as everyone on here - it is not a club you know where you all have to think the same.

I have not said Anything negative about the virus this time - I am being a good little boy and sticking by the school rules (sorry thats what it feels like in here sometimes) lots of other people here knock and condem the gov handling of this virus death is serious and changes a persons life for ever (I should know more than most)

So come cut me some slack here I deserve to be posting here just the same as anyone else.

Thank You.

Sorry, I thought this was directed at me. (A bit paranoid I think after several work colleagues described my views on COVID today as being “alternative”.)

What do people find so difficult about the concept of free speach? The same freedom that allows you to say whatever you want also applies to anyone that pulls you up for what you say.
It's really not a difficult concept, but some people just can't seem to grasp it.

A very interesting graph. The cynical side of me says that the "least worst scenario" is not being shown so that the PM can say "look this is what actually happened because I did the right thing." Not sure I have a non-cynical view at the moment.

As for the discussion on population/birth control, I thought I'd add my two-pennath. I'd suggest that most people would agree that the Earth has reached, or is close to reaching, its maximum human population, apart from anything else unless the increasing meat requirement is reduced it will mean that the population will not be able to be fed if current diet patterns continue. There's also the huge and increasing, and possibly irreversible, damage to the planet's climate and all the other species which live here. A while ago - and before covid - I suggested the only way this planet would survive would be for a virus to hit, heavily, the human race - and had a few people agreeing. (bit of a David Icke moment there!)

I was listening to Genesis' Foxtrot at the gym this morning and this line jumped out:
"This is the end of man's long union with Earth" - the whole song could have been written with the current crisis in mind.

As ever, listen to Radio 4s "More or Less" which puts a lot of meat on the message that that graph shows.

I have this saved as favourites

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-51235105

The graph for Europe makes for scary reading; the UK were level with Italy 2 weeks ago. The UK's growth is steeper than Spain when that country started rising again, but less steep than France. It looks like we are certain to at least double our cases in the next 2 weeks If the UK followed its own rules anyone who had been outside and gone to restaurants / shops / public transport / holiday etc in the UK would have had to self quarantine about 2 weeks ago,

I don't know about anyone else but I'm treating life in the UK in the same way as life in lockdown from now (apart from seeing family) and I suspect that's also what the government want us all to despite what they say about groups of 6 and pubs

But it makes sense. I'd rather they made changes to help it to work, instead of just bulldozing on. In McDonalds/Pret etc, you go in, queue up (in a socially distanced way), get the food, sit down and then leave. In pubs (& restaurants to a lesser extent) you are getting up and down numerous times to reorder, and this is when you are mixing with others.

Rubbish.

Blindingly obvious fast food restaurants wouldn't be included in the rules. There's plenty to take a pop at with this government without trying to make this a thing

I think the facility will have to close it's doors at 10 but will still be able to deliver. So, if your local Macs uses the local delivery service you'll be able to stock up on your rancid chips and artery clogging milkshakes into the early hours.
PS - don't think it was back pedalling but was included in the announcement.
PPS for RAF4EVER - what's the current situation in the Netherlands regarding lockdown, bars etc?

What about kebab shops etc that are just take-away? I appreciate with pubs closing at 22.00 there will be fewer people sufficiently ratted to actually think a kebab is a good idea

I think all take away shops can continue to operate. That’s why I think alcohol off sales should cease so the socialising doesn’t just move from controlled pub to uncontrolled home - the cause of one of the current university outbreaks.

According to the Government website https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coro ... -september all shops selling food and drink, including takeaways, must be closed by 10pm, although they can continue to deliver after this. The wording of the Govt statement doesn't mention supermarkets, so I assume they can continue to sell food and drink including booze after 10pm?

My mistake, I meant that take aways would close doors but could continue to deliver after 10. Interesting point about supermarkets.

Not sure about the rest of the UK but sales of alcohol from supermarkets / shops in Scotland are not permitted after 10pm.
