Looks a good line up so far, went for the first time last year, had a very enjoyable day out, loved the mix of country show and airshow. Will be back for more this year.

Our 2022 show on Saturday 10th September will see a change to the show on the aviation side of things in that we will be hosting a 'Helimeet'.

A variety of helicopters that will fly in during the morning to land on the grass along the lengthened showground crowdline. The afternoon flying display program will feature some traditional displays by world war two / aerobatic types & any modern participation with the other half helicopter displays.
We have never done a Helimeet before in our 22 years of existence and so it will be very different, aswell as unique. It will feature mainly ex military types in military colours now in civilian ownership but hoping one or two serving military types will attend also (subject to operational requirements) and a small selection of pure civilian types.

So, without further ado to get the ball rolling the following helicopters will be participating on static display (with a couple in the afternoon flying program) subject to serviceability / availability etc - more updates to follow in near future:

Allouette II - Static, Swiss military markings (M Cuttell)
Wasp - Static & Flying, Royal Navy markings (T Martin)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corps colours (Historic Army Aircraft Flight)
Wasp - Static, Royal Navy markings (J Heath)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corp markings (c/o M Cowley)
Wasp - Static, South African Navy markings (c/o M Cowley)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corp markings (c/o M Cowley)
Wasp - Static, Naval markings tbc (c/o M Cowley)
Gazelle - Static, French military markings (S Atherton)
Sioux - Static, Army Air Corps colours (Historic Army Aircraft Flight)
Allouette II - Static & Flying, Army Air Corp colours (J Marsden)
Sea King - Static & Flying, Belgian Air Force colours (Historic Helicopters & already confirmed a while back)

The flying displays announced so far of B17 / Hawker Hurricane / Yakolev Yak3 (with ukraine insignia marks), The Blades Aerobatic Team and the Sea King as above, remain unchanged.

Ground attractions are building up, with The Solent Stars Motorcycle Display Team, Dog Agility displays, model Spitfire, Steam Train Rides, Crafts, The Radio Days Big Band, Punch & Judy, Buccaneer Jet cockpit, Phantom Jet cockpit & a Chipmunk trainer cockpit all to sit in, Classic Vehicles & ex Military Vehicles, Steam Machinery, Falconry Demonstration, Army Careers stand, Radio Controlled Classic Jet models (& will fly), Douglas Dakota cockpit, Husky Dogs, Abingdon Rock Choir and much more thats currently booking in.

Admission tickets will be online from the end of March to gain entry into the show, from our ticket provider 'Ticket SRV'.

Sure you do not need reminding that this year is the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands war where many of the above were actively involved. Lets hope the Wessex can also attend, although Duxford have probably booked that ?

Doughnut - yes i am aware but its all down to cost - last year we had both Sea King & Wessex attend and it was expensive. But you will have to wait and see :)

Yes correct - i cancelled its appearance as it was too much in the end unfortunetly for one helicopter (though i understand about prices have gone up rapidly in a year due to various factors ie aviation fuel etc).
Update on the helicopters from our facebook page the other week is:

Allouette II - Static, Swiss military markings (M Cuttell)
Wasp - Static & Flying, Royal Navy markings (T Martin)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corps colours (Historic Army Aircraft Flight)
Wasp - Static, Royal Navy markings (J Heath)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corp markings (c/o M Cowley)
Wasp - Static, South African Navy markings (c/o M Cowley)
Scout - Static, Army Air Corp markings (c/o M Cowley)
Wasp - Static, New Zealand naval markings (c/o M Cowley)
Gazelle - Static, French military markings (S Atherton)
Sioux - Static, Army Air Corps colours (Historic Army Aircraft Flight)
Allouette II - Static & Flying, Army Air Corp colours (J Marsden)
Gazelle Pair - Static & Flying (The Gazelle Squadron)
Wasp - Static, Royal Navy markings (Navy Wings)

Just an update on our show... our 'Helimeet' theme will comprise of 5 Westland Wasps, up to 7 Westland Gazelles, 2 Sud Allouette II, a Sioux, 4 Westland Scouts and a Lynx Mk7. It is hoped for a modern helo or two to participate, more details closer to the time and the USAFE have officially stated they will support us with something but again thats in the planning (fingers crossed!).

An expanded post to update will be done after RIAT has passed.

Looking good as ever👍

What people need to realise is that the cost of staging any event was already spiraling out of control three years ago but those three years event have sent it to a whole new level sadly and to put on a show with little in the way of an increase in the already low-cost public admission ticket price is to be applauded whole-heartedly👏👏👏👏

Bearing in mind that I probably wouldn't get anywhere in getting a Quote for the ex. Belgian Sea King to attend, is it possible to state the cost in additional GBP. per average Ticket Sale based on previous years? I'm not known for optimism but I'm guessing enthusiasts & the public in general probably wouldn't have coughed ( :face_vomiting: ) too much to have it there?

I wonder if The Hip and Hind at Duxford could be persuaded to pop in for " Heli- Meet" ?

Unfortunetly its not possible - i contacted Duxford to see if we could at least try but its not feasible for Duxford to release them. Was worth a try.

I am trying for something heavy from the RAF for a flypast and the USAFE have two requests for flypasts by two different types but as of this message, i have heard nothing as yet.

Its tough going this year with costs escalated in alot of area's including aircraft display fee's and insurance.

Any chance of a B-52? They're fairly local at the moment to you.
