Yeah those Romanian MIG-21's have been a liability in the last few years and it was the best thing to do. I am thankfull that we got to see one flying in 2019. As Romania are flashing yellow do they have any other flying displays?

They displayed an IAR-99 several times at BIAS a few years ago.

Would fit in well with the Trainer theme, and rare as hen’s teeth outside of Romania.

The only time I can recall hearing about it displaying outside of Romania was at NATO Days in Czech Republic a few years ago.

Chances are that the Romanian Air Force are likely to send a C-130 or a F-16 for static display

I don’t really think there is any basis in fact for this?

In 2019 it was the Migs for the flying and a C-27 on static. Prior to this, it was the same confirmed for 2018 before they cancelled, and I believe the same was intended for 2010 prior to cancellation?

I’d imagine their F-16s will be heavily committed to picking up the Air Policing mission, even more so without the Migs - and therefore one of the least-likely additions.

One of their C-130s would be nice with the camo and full-colour roundels, however.

Yeah i was very surprised to see no RIAT for the Tutor's schedule, it's one of the RAFs trainer and we have a trainer theme.
Wouldn’t surprise me that based on the current pace of announcements, the flying display might be over-subscribed?
Having done some quick maths based on the aircraft on the website and predicted display times, I think we're already got over 4 hours confirmed flying and it's only April. So I think you might be right Light Chop?

+ potentially the Czech Gripen, Czech Alca x2, A-10, F-35 and some flypasts with the reds.

At the forum the other week they said the USAF tends to confirm in June, so a little patience may be necessary.

What chance the B-52's will have gone home and the U-2's flying less operational missions come July?

In other words what chance the airshow will go ahead with the war still happening?

B-52’s have already returned stateside. As for the U-2’s, it’s just a waiting game I guess. We have had RIAT’s mixed in with U-2 ops (2017 departures springs to mind) but certainly not at this level.
I am impartial to a bit of jet noise.

This will be (I think?) the first RIAT since the U-2s took up a long term residence for quite some time. In the last ten years it was the odd swap over. Now it’s a couple of missions from Fairford per week.

(On the assumption their deployment continues and they don’t all pack up before July) It’ll be interesting to see if they provide any support to the show in the form of a static aircraft or something.

could that be because its previously been listed under the heritage flight and not the demo team?

Often you just see a RIAT shaped gap in schedules, allowing us all to get excited and speculate. It's fun 🙂

Tommy it would be cool. I seem to remember some years ago there was a U-2 sat tantalisingly over by the hangars but that's where it remained all weekend.

Don't worry too much, it's still listed on the Heritage Flight website. I believe the A10 schedule has only listed the demo and not HF Displays.

Any ideas for the update tomorrow, for me i think the Luffwaffe, Italian air force and hopefully the Royal Netherland air force will confirm there participation.

Doubt it, neither are showing on the Amber list - for discussions.

I would be so surprised if either the Egyptian, Zambian, Colombian or Brazilian bring a flying display. And no sign of the Italians either!
