Thanks for clearing that up! I've always hoped for a Belgian F-16 solo jet in the colours of the Red Devils/Fouga Magister. Never really been a fan of the stripes on Dark Falcon or Blizzard.

Given the Covid kerfuffles of the last couple of years hampering access for many of us to Tiger Meets, if there are any painted Tiger jets/copters of the last year or two still knocking around, they would make a nice addition to the static :D

I thought Dark Falcon was a nice scheme to be fair, especially with the little changeable national flag depending upon the nation they were displaying in. Be interested to see the 2022 frame as and when it is released from the paint shop and... of course look forward to it gracing the RIAT 2022 skies.

Hi, first post on here. Been a non-member viewer for a number of years but decided to finally join.

Just wanted to say how pleased and impressed I've been up to now with what DBH have achieved in terms of participation for this year's event. There seems to be a definite focus on the training theme & some really rare & interesting confirmations as a result, I'm not one who needs everything to be fast jets & this year may be harder in that respect with where NATO's focus will inevitably be.

But even having said that, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Austrian Typhoon QRA demo again (saw it at Zeltweg in 2016), as it was one of the best displays I saw that year anywhere! Even the sometimes overlooked civilian category is full of interesting participants this year (for me anyway).

Without rambling on, it's only early May, with I'm sure more to come in the next 8-10 weeks when usually we start to get plenty added. Looking forward to getting back to Fairford for the first arrivals day! Can't come soon enough! 😁

Updated 29th April, not good reading.

https://www.acc.af.mil/Home/Aerial-Even ... -schedule/
Assuming the pending airshow is Farnborough, there must have been a mistake removing RIAT off their schedule.
Perhaps the mistake was them listing RIAT in the first place?
RIAT is still on the main heritage flight schedule on their website though for both the A10 and F35. The one without it is from ACC website. Rather confusing lol.

https://www.airforceheritageflight.org/schedule
Not any more.

I find it very hard to believe that the USAF won't be sending a single demo team to RIAT with the major theme being their 75th Anniversary. Although this really doesn't look very good at all it might be a sign of them having a swap round of their teams. We'll just have to wait and see what happens and hope for the best.

It might be a theme but as I understand it, RIAT 2022 is not an official USAF 75th anniversary airshow and therefore isn't being supported by the DoD as such, unlike 2017.

The DoD this year took the decision that only shows that have been allocated the Thunderbirds will be considered as official anniversary airshows.

I might be wrong, but as it stands the 75th anniversary is "only" a RIAT theme - the same as Trainers is.

Don't get me wrong however, I am sure Peter and his team are moving heaven and earth to get what they can to support the theme and, hopefully, that will include some form of solo demo or other flying participation from the USAF.

It necessarily shows the importance of RIAT’s confirmation system.

(And how air display teams jump the gun - it’s going to be more frustrating that the A-10 doesn’t attend now than had we not known about it at all)

Fingers crossed in any event.

It depends, wild speculation is part of the fun so long as you don't take it too seriously. As JMC suggests, it will be what it'll be. For many, including me, this is a highlight of the year. The speculation, some of which is pie in the sky, effectively extends the event. Why else do we come on this forum? If we only want facts, RIAT have a perfectly good website. Now, what's happened to those Black Eagles...?

But at least this way we got a few weeks of excitement.

The Swedish Air Force Historic Flight have given us all so much pleasure over the years without even ever turning up!

Yeah, that’s completely fair - although disappointment when said speculation goes awry needs to be carefully directed, too.

The disappointment from the French airshow calendar showing no Rafale performance the other week put a dampener on what was a stellar update from DBH.

As for the Swedish - please don’t start! 😂

So does this mean that the USAF demo teams/heritage flight and the Swedish Historic Flight won't be attending?

I'm just hoping that the Italians will have a couple of displays, the French Navy Rafale M display isn't out yet I believe, the US navy will maybe show one of their F15s and the Polish perhaps their f16s, mig29s or helicopters. The others I can't them doing aerial displays. Tomorrow will be interesting

I doubt it would surprise anyone to be honest. They've only got 12 in service anyway, so to send at least 2 (I presume at least 2) to an airshow in the current climate was always going to be a big ask.

With the USAF Demos, Maybe it's just a case of DBH asking them to remove it until it can be officially confirmed. After all, they only need to look on this forum to see how much it's being bigged up, like it's already coming.
Again, hopeful Assumptions

Obviously hoping the Hungarian Air Force can make it, but the last time they actually turned up with confirmed aircraft was 2014.....cancelled participation in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2019. So they're kind of like the NATO E-3....believe it when it arrives.

What do we reckon for today then?

I'm going to say static Dutch A330, Frecce Tricolori, Irish C-295 & Polish Navy Bryza.

French PC-21 team flying and Omani C-295M on static.

Two UK debuts I think. The Omani C-295 is smart, looks similar to the Turkish Navy one that went to Waddington in 2014.

First up this week we're very excited to announce the UK debut display from one of the new tactical displays from France! As part of our training theme, we're pleased to be welcoming the "Mustang X-Ray Demo Team" to RIAT, flying a pair of Pilatus PC-21 advanced turboprop trainers.

We were pleased to hear from the Royal Air Force of Oman that they will return to RIAT, and this year with a new aircraft type. We'll be welcoming one of their Persuader maritime patrol aircraft, based on the popular CASA 295, for static display in July.

We continue to work with the Royal Air Force to confirm additional participation at RIAT 2022 and this week we can confirm the addition of nine airframes to the static aircraft displays. We now have all aircraft types operated by 22 Group on static display at RIAT 2022 as part of our Training Theme, some of which will be exited in the Ascent Showcase, others located near the RAF Experience.

Finally for this week, an iconic American warbird joins our growing USAF 75th Anniversary static displays, with P-51D Musang "Frances Dell" flying over from Germany for RIAT 2022. In addition, we continue to work with our friends in the United States Air Force and hope to be able to announce the participation of the modern USAF assets we're expecting join the static displays soon...
