Preserved railways 2020

Post by zigzag »

A small selection of preserved railway shots from the couple of trips I managed this year

1. 60009 at ELR, such a shame about the stuffing and mounting of this loco

Some great shots Andy, that last shed shot of the Hall class is a stunner! Was it an arranged shoot of some kind? The bloke in the trilby and yellow jacket is a great bit of composition and catches the light perfectly.

As for Union of S Africa, unless you know something I don't it's the expiry of her ten year boiler ticket rather than a permanent withdrawal?

Just needs a mouse to be reminiscent of a Cuneo painting.

Forgot about the mouse in Terence Cuneo paintings

As I understand it, 60009 was moved to the ELR to run for the last year of her operational life before being moved to her owners (John Cameron) farm in Scotland for static display. I believe the museum has not yet been built (planning issues) and Lockdown has interrupted operation on the ELR so who knows what will happen with her. The boiler certificate has expired so currently it can not run mainline steam and I believe that presently there are no plans for an overhaul.
