Partial Solar Eclipse - 10 June 2021

Post by Spiny Norman »

Anyone get anything? Frustratingly the clouds were in and out but eventually shot this through a pair of eclipse goggles bought in 1999 with my Canon 100-300 mm lens. Not going to make the Sky at Night but a record of the event. Post away if anyone else got anything decent!

From Cheshire using the clouds as a filter.

Later on the clouds cleared so this with a solar filter.

Through some light cloud - it was constantly changing from heavy cloud, light cloud, small gaps of blue sky..... I've got an eclipse filter, but it's too small for 100-400 lens, so didn't bother using it.

This was at Biggleswade (near Old Warden ;-) )

My efforts from West London.
It was tricky capturing through small breaks in the cloud as others have said, trying to align the scope adjust the exposure and capture the image in a few seconds space.
I has set up two scopes but quickly abandoned one and also made the mistake of using hi-speed shutter which induced some camera shake and ruined quite a few images but not all.
Not as many sun spots as last week which would have been nice as well.
I had hoped to see some silhouetted terrain on the moon which I succeeded in doing so quite happy overall, especially considering the forecast.
Cheers,
Jeff

I know you think you understood what I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what I said is not what I meant.
