Hi all,
So, as well as Penpusher!!!!, Andy, (Novova), and I also ventured into London on the 2nd of this month to repeat last years successful Christmas trip.
Luckily for Brian we didn't bump into him and cramp his style with our cumbersome tripods His travel light approach obviously works as he seems to have covered more ground than us!!!! We also didn't get to the Golden Hind, maybe next time.
We didn't repeat last years error of timing, and so managed to enjoy a fruit juice in a local hostlery before we departed.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, they are a bit Tower Bridge centric, but that payed off as we saw the bascules raised and lowered not once but twice, an unexpected and welcome surprise.
Hope you like them and thankyou for looking.
C+C welcome.
Cheers,
Jeff.

Was the last one taken from London Bridge?
As for the Bascules, while I was waiting for twilight to fall I had a bit of a wander down Tower Bridge Road and there are some Tower Bridge Offices on the right and there are times posted on one of the notice boards as to when the bridge is going to close for the raising and lowering of the Bascules. The times were to late for me and the only reason I covered more ground than you was because I had a train to catch.

Well done Jeff! Such a great set ... really like shots 2, 6, 9 and 10. You certainly managed to keep a cool head the first time the Bascules went up And the shot through the links of the bridge to the opposite side of the rive really paid off.
A great evening, finished with a welcome round of refreshments ... maybe we don't need to leave it a whole year before the next one?!
Andy
PS Mine should follow by the weekend, homework permitting!

Good post! I like the effective juxtaposition of older and contemporary architecture in some of these shots, it works well and the exposures are excellently balanced.
[humour]Probably the first time I have ever seen "bridge blur" in a photograph![/humour]

nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....

Belated thanks for your comments Phreakf4, glad you appreciated that element of the pictures.
The Wharfingers Cottage at the Tower looks quite out of place, and they don't really know how old it actually is.
I am often amazed, that although London is obviously full of old historical buildings, quite how many small individual examples there are. The Old Curiosity Shop in Lincolns Inn Fields is another. My brother and I used to explore that as children while my mum was having her appointments at the nearby kidney hospital.
Sadly, I believe its now just a boutique of some kind.
Cheers,
Jeff.
