Chernobyl - October 2018

Post by pootle »

Perhaps a bit strange but I've always wanted to visit the exclusion zone around Chernobyl! Having seen so many iconic images over the years from the abandoned city and the plant itself I was keen to visit and try for myself.
MY 50th birthday earlier this year provided the opportunity with a city break to Kiev as a present from my wife. We seen 4 days in the city and I'd recommend it. We did a 1-day tour out to Chernobyl and I think for most people this is probably enough. Its a very well organised set-up and to be honest a place that is at the same time fascinating, sad and incredibly thought provoking as you learn the depth of the events of that fateful day in 1986.

Here are a few of the shots I took on my visit there, plus a couple from Kiev itself. If you want to see the whole set then you can see them on Flickr at: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmnUS4Tb

C&C welcome.

Regards,
Stewart

Fascinating set. It's somewhere that I'd really like to visit.

Thanks for the comments. It really is a surreal location.
Stating the obvious it really is like nowhere else but I must say its given me a taste for the urban exploration/abandoned sites field of photography.
