Red Squirrels in Scotland

Post by Peter345 »

Back in August we spent a brilliant week in Dumfries and Galloway, the highlight of which was a couple of mornings spent with the delightful red squirrels near Kirkcudbright...

Rather superb Peter. To say the least.

What was the set up there, were you able to build the stage, or is the setting just like that?

Lovely stuff!
its time to kick the tyres and light the fires

Thanks chaps. The photos were taken from a hide with a reflection pool all set up. It's only open by special arrangement at the moment due to Covid but normally it's open to all and free to use. (Donations welcome though to the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group.)
The squirrels are quite bold and don't seem bothered by the presence of people. In fact we couldn't believe how close some of the squirrels came. One had a paw on my lens hood at one point as he leapt towards us!
