What Canon lens would you recommend for photoing bugs etc

Bugs as in insects? if so, a macro lens. Canon do a number of them. I have the 100mm f2.8L macro and its the finest lens I've ever used, bar none. Its superb.

If that's outside your budget there are other macro lens options in the range, all pretty good.

If your budget doesn't extend to the excellent Canon 100 L macro, you could try the garden variety Canon 100/2.8 macro. It is still sold in parallel with the L model (at least here in Australia) and it is substantially cheaper. It lacks IS but if you are planning to use it on a tripod then it's not an issue. Image quality is excellent.
