Topic of the week #9 Lakenheath

Post by shorsley »

Seen as the world and his wife seem to be at Lakenheath at the moment, its the theme for this week's topic. I'd like to see your best five images taken either at Lakenheath, or, if like me you've never been, then a Lakenheath aircraft taken elsewhere such as at an airshow or at low level. Aircraft can be from any era. As usual up to five pictures per entry.

I haven't visited Lakenheath since the 1980s so all F-111F oldies.

My only visit to Lakenheath was for their Open Day in...1986, so here are a few from that day and a based Eagle.

Been fortunate enough to attend a couple of base visits over the years, plus some fence spotting

Some visitors and based aircraft. Weird to see the F-15Cs with the LN painted out before being sent home.

As always a great variety of shots, featuring based and visiting aircraft from lots of eras, as well as plenty of Lakenheath aircraft out and about elsewhere too.

Honourable mentions to Pete's low-level set (who doesn't love a bit of low-level), Derek's flaming Aardvark take-off, Dan's "Old & New" and his 'nest' shots, and all of Stuart's shots.

However the shot I kept going back to, and the one that always grabbed my attention as I scrolled through the thread is Keith's landing shot of 316, so over to you Keith.
