El Centro Airshow plans to return on Saturday 12th March down in Southern California at the Naval Air Facility there. I am hoping to attend this and fingers crossed it doesn't go the same way as the Yuma Airshow (Az).

El Centro tends to be quite a small show being so early in the season.
The static is quite small too. What is frustrating is the display line, the public are only allowed in the furthest left third and display centre is the media enclosure - the entire right hand half of the display line is off limits.
It's a show where you need lots of water as the sun does not show mercy but at least if you are lucky they take you out of the base via the flying dispersal and you can get some nice shots of the based rescue choppers.

Re: El Centro Airshow 2022 - 12th March 2022
Thanks Andy... good info, as always. I might invest in a modest Walmart umbrella (seems they are permitted on the showground) to keep the worst of the sun off me. I am braced for the cost of 'on base chilled water.'
Hopefully the Buckeye will make an appearance in a heritage formation somewhere along the line. I think it was billed for the cancelled 2020 show. But what will be will be.

Is this the first airshow display flown by the new Fat Albert C-130J?

Good question Mike.
I did raise my eyebrows when I saw that announced as part of the line up. Will be a 'first' for me, assuming I can actually get there. Less than a week until my flight westward now, and as we've seen, a week is a long time in world affairs. Really unsure about whether to travel or not.
