Just a local sortie. I'm sure once it's on its way, people who know about these things will make it clear.

Where they're directed to. There is no "usual" parking places as, for what I assumed would be obvious reasons, the types and numbers of aircraft on the airfield changes year-on-year.

Think I'm sold on the Friday display, but as I'll be travelling from home, how have traffic and queues been for it in previous years?
Lots less traffic RIAT related, but mind that Friday is a normal working day for most people, so more of "normal" traffic. If traffic keeps flowing there is nothing to worry about. If someone closes the route you are on for clearing a traffic accident (it has happened before at the route for shuttle busses), you have a problem.

And I wonder, with an early finish to the flying would there be enough time after to go and take a leisurely walk round the static?
If you want, there is enough time. But mind that green is off-limits on Friday, unless if we're lucky maybe one or two aircraft that are right at the border between blue and green, as the U-2 guys did one year (If I had to gamble, I would say it was in 2017)

From what I remember the Frecce were parked north side most times. Nothing to be excited about their start-up sequence. Over the last few hours before the display the covers will be removed one by one, after that the canopy will be cleaned, then the pilots come and just get on board. No shows like the US teams or something like that. Also quite some time between the engine starts of the different machines. It just happens when the individual pilots are ready, and ATC allows them to.

Is the North side in use this year or not due to building work? Someone asked last week but unsure if it had been answered.

I was delighted to put my automatic response on my work emails today, off now until Wednesday the 20th, leaving Cornwall for Kempsford this Monday coming! It's been an awfully long time and hasn't quite set in yet that it's happening.

Does anyone arriving Monday have plans for Tuesday? STEAM is fantastic but I've been there fairly recently so may have a day on the rails at GWSR. I toyed with the idea of going to Brize but I'm still undecided.

Flying is 11am-3pm but some arrivals apparently before and after show.

The shorter day is good, gives me a chance to do a quieter static.

Including the Swedish Historic Flight, who are due after the display on Friday (lucky buggers if you're there for that 🤘).

2Excel King Air added to cancelled
That had been showing as Cancelled since Thursday.
Fingers crossed it's the last one - cancellations have been really low this year, which is obviously brilliant 👍🏼
Really? Yikes, I am slipping on my list making lol.

Didn't spot it on Thursday.

Also, doesn't the Airtattoo app include the (approx.) timings of some of the star items?
There is a Key Timings section although that is currently unpopulated.
Is the 2022 App available already then , as i cant see it in the App store. Cheers.
I'm not sure if there is a 2022 version but I still have the 2019 app on my phone and this has news and info content for this year's event.

Yes, provided the car collection goes OK I was planning on going to STEAM before a pass by of the airfield on the way to Langford where I am staying.

Can't find the 2022 app in google play store and the link for the 2019 one is dead . Though as some said, they may have an older years version still on the phone and able to access what we will get soon.

If these are of interest to you; SS Great Britain at Bristol, the Roman Museum at Cirencester and the Roman villa at chedworth just north of Cirencester are all worth doing and the latter pair are close enough to Brize.

Other than they'll do the 'Heritage flight' flypasts & break, probably after the Typhoon finishes it's solo, what more is there to be said?

Sounds perfect, many thanks. Here's hoping for a relatively smooth trip.
