Scanner Frequencies 2022
Scanner Frequencies 2022

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
Out of all the frequencies which ones are the best or mostly used?

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
i think normally theyd use the CAA ones and normal base ones to communicate. i think the formation flights may use their own frequencies once airbourne
Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
So on show day you want the tower freq, primarily 124.800. This is where you'll hear the displays authorised to begin and they'll tell the tower when they are almost done. Also all take off and landing clearances. Displays kind of have the tower freq at their disposal whilst displaying.
Some teams such as the reds will use their own freqs in addition to the tower, frecce definitely will have their own. Smaller teams such as role demos may well talk to one another on the tower freq.
Secondary if your interested then listen on ground, this will give you an idea of when aircraft are starting up and taxy routes.
CAA freqs aren't usually used at Fairford with the exception of the two I've noted.
A lot of the rest such as departures and the Brize freqs you'll really only want to listen during arrivals and departures to hear stuff further out or clearances. On show day Brize is only really of use outside of display times or if something is coming to display that's not on base eg. a b2 but that usually doesn't happen
Hope that helps.

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
Interesting! Ground frequency 121.180 appears to be on a 8.33kHz spacing. For those of us with older scanners, will we hear it on the nearest 25 kHz channel? I notice that 121.175 is listed as the CAA freq 'previously used for ground'....
Thanks!

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
I’m not a radio expert, but I think you should be ok, as you say, 121.180 is the 8.33 translation of the old freq, it is still actually transmitted on 121.175.

It’s not the easiest to get one’s head around,
121.180 is actually 121.1750
121.185 is actually 121.1833
121.190 is actually 121.1917
121.205 is actually 121.2000
121.210 is actually 121.2083
121.215 is actually 121.2167
Etc etc

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
Thanks again, I think I've got it now...!
So, on the OP's highly useful list, all the freqs are 'old-fashioned' 25kHz spacings, except for the BBMF on 122.0666. This looks like a 8.33kHz-spaced 'actual' frequency, which could also be reported as channel 122.065.
Now, are there any Bearcat 3500XLT experts out there who would know which of these numbers I should enter into the scanner programming...?

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022
You'll be fine the actual freq for that 124.550 is 124.550, only other one I can see is the BBMF freq which may not even be used.Seahornet wrote: ↑Sat 09 Jul 2022, 9:17 pmInteresting!
