Re: Eastbourne 22
I think the lack of fast jets all comes from the idiot at Shoreham and the insurance problems.

I’d say the chances of the Tempest turning up in the first place was wishful thinking.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Wed 17 Aug 2022, 8:52 amWell the two stars of the show have both been cancelled :/

Re: Eastbourne 22
As I live about 10 min from the beach I think I'll pop out to see the Typhoon and Chinook displays over the 4 days and ofc the Puma flypast on the Sunday. I also feel like having 3 Spitfires in the line-up is not very interesting, instead of the adding the 3rd as the F-16 replacement why not get something different.
As for the rising costs of the airshow, why is it still 4 days? Not many people go on the Thursday and the line-up is not great either having long gaps between displays. Just scarp it and make it a 3 or 2 day show.

Oh dear, maybe a B-52 on its way to fairford could do a Beachy Head flypast to save the day.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 18 Aug 2022, 1:16 pmChinook gone TEC.

3x F-15 did a flyby while the wingwalkers were displaying, could just about see them flying towards Kent at about 200ft, could easily do a proper flypast but oh well.

Re: Eastbourne 22
See the Hurricane as it made its way between Harold Wood and Brentwood. Looks like they are camping at Southend tonight.
Re: Eastbourne 22
BBMF seem to have gone into Southend. Notams are indicating the Red Arrows will be operating from Southend for the weekend from tomorrow. Will be unusual as I don’t recall the Reds ever operating from there in the past.
Re: Eastbourne 22
Know the feeling. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed all the Pilatus displays at RIAT and happy with warbirds and the odd light aircraft if interesting. Fast jets burn a lot of fuel but it doesn't seem too crazy to expect an internationally known air display to have a minimum of 3 fast jets, does it? Of course, the RAF isn't helping by not displaying even a solo Hawk anymore (won't bother asking for an F-35). Yet displays in France, Belgium, Slovakia, etc etc are like mini-RIATs with loads of enthusiastic participation. The UK has truly slipped down the pecking order, somehow symbolised by the 7 Reds. Is it the sewage problem?sideeffectwhu wrote: ↑Wed 17 Aug 2022, 11:51 pmAirshows are a such a let down these days that I prefer to camp at air bases. Clacton this year has no fast jets at all this year and I only visited last year to see the F15s flypast. If Lakenheath can do that for Clacton why Can't Marham give Clacton an F35 flypast. Sorry for the rant have just woke up and had to take a sleeping pill to get back to sleep. Will take a sleeping tablet at Clacton if I have to go with my son so he can take pics.

Re: Eastbourne 22
Reds have used Biggin and Farnborough for bases before, both fields busy with biz so not much room for the reds would think hence going to the quieter Southend.
Re: Eastbourne 22
Typhoon is up currently circling near Framlingham, wonder whether inbound to Southend as well.
Re: Eastbourne 22
Good Evening has anyone got a timetable for tomorrow ? cheers
Re: Eastbourne 22
we've had some great visitors over the years including a B1 (over from the US specially) KC135 Belgian and NL F16s Mirage DHL 757 etc etc
sadly it seems free seaside shows now just get whatever's readily available.

Re: Eastbourne 22
I just hope the Belgian F16 will return to Eastbourne in the future. The crew must be really annoyed after the organisers only told them about the cancellation on Sunday so they might not want to return. Then there's the problem with where they would operate from as Biggin Hill seemingly is not an option anymore. The Typhoon is based at Southend so idk. If Gdynia airshow will take place next year then I don't see any chance tbh as its the same date as Eastbourne, if airborne happens in the first place anyway with all the costs rising.
Back to this year, b52 are currently based at Fairford... maybe they could ask if a flypast would be available, as I am sure the b52 will be active anyway in the next few days. Maybe even f15 flypast, if I remember correctly they did one at Claton a few years ago.

Anybody have the timetable for the next few days please?
"You really are an oafish philistine at times!"
Re: Eastbourne 22
Frequency in use today was 130.675.
The Red's support Juno was ZM 531.
So did the Chinook not make it then? Only ask as I managed to get there for the last 2 hours and asked a fella next to me, with a decent camera, if it had displayed yet and he said yes!

Re: Eastbourne 22
All I know is that tomorrow flying starts at 12:30 with the tigers, so proper flying should start at about 13:00. Red arrows due to close the show at 16:30. Typhoon and Spitfire duo should display at about 15:30LN Strike Eagle wrote: ↑Thu 18 Aug 2022, 8:58 pmAnybody have the timetable for the next few days please?
Re: Eastbourne 22
Ok thanks. Wonder if they have a fix or a replacement aircraft.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 18 Aug 2022, 9:26 pmNo, it didn't make it I don't know why he told you that. It was due at 14:00 but went TEC.
Was going to Beachy Head tomorrow but with no F-16 and possibly no Chinook, that just leaves the Typhoon for me, which if coming from Southend is likely to arr/dep from the East. Grim.
Re: Eastbourne 22
Agreed. Just looked at my pictures from Shoreham in 2006 and 2008 during Airbourne.
2006 had 2x Tucanos, 2x Harriers, Merlin and Belgian Sea King plus warbirds.
2008 had 2x Tucanos, 2x Tutors, Chinook, Army Lynx, Gazelle and Scout, Catalina, Dutch AB-412 plus warbirds, Blades etc.
Also seen the Navy Black Cats Lynx pair and a Strikemaster there.
Remember a Chinook landing on the beach at Airbourne to pick up a jeep as an underslung load as part of it's display. The Search and Rescue Sea Kings were regulars doing demos with the local lifeboat. More stuff then and more dynamic too. I wonder if the show will survive next year?
Re: Eastbourne 22
B-52 to fly round Beachy Head, one can dream!
Re: Eastbourne 22
Any ideas as to where the warbirds are operating from, any chance any may be from Shoreham?

BBMF will display at 15:00 today, sadly no hurricane which has returned to RAF Coningsby due to oil leak. After the BBMF display the Spitfire should do some flypasts with the Typhoon.
Typhoon solo 15:27
Flightline has posted the following
