BBMF Chipmunk

Post by kc10 »

I'd been thinking about taking up modelling after a break of about 10 years, then stumbled upon a stash of about 5 or 6 kits at a car boot sale, so finally took the plunge, I decided to do airfix 1/72 chipmunk first as it seemed the easiest.
All went well till i tried joining the main wing to fuselage which needed lot of sanding and filling...Quite a learning/ re-learning process :dizzy: , so any help and criticism would be really appreciated.

I thought it turned out OK in the end and really enjoyed it.

thanks for looking

Hi

Looks like a nice build. I'm in a similar position regarding returning to modelling. I also have a slightly older chipmunk kit that was released (I think) in the late 80s or early 90s. This being the Airfix Chippie WP805 (6 AEF). This was the first aircraft I ever flew in when I was a ATC Cadet about 1983/4. I'm practising on a few other kits first, as whilst being a basic kit, I don't want to mess it up, it being a bit special.

A chipmunk was the first i ever flew in with the cadets in the early 90s. I wish this has decal options for a red and white one.
Its a bit of a basic kit, the main wing to fuselage is a awkard fit and the rivet details are quite large!

Great work, looks very smart! If you're after a red and white Chippy the old boxing of the kit was exactly that, can't be that hard to find...?

Hi
Nice build there, here`s my take on the Airfix BBMF Chippy.

Built straight out of the box apart from a little work in the cockpit.
