Hi guys. I know the Shackleton AEW2 and naval stuff like the Sea vixen and Buccaneer are in dark sea grey, but RAF grey/green camouflage in the '70s/'80s seems to be named as the same colour, yet it sometimes looks more of a blue-grey than the grey applied to the Shack/Bucc/Vixen.
Some photos of RAF Jags, Tornados, Buccs, Hercs, etc look quite bluey, and some don't. Obviously lighting, exposure, etc, plays a part, and even the grey against the green can fool the eye, but are they they the same or different?
I just can't imagine painting an RAF Herc (green/grey) in the same grey that was applied to the AEW Shackleton - just wouldn't look right...would it?
RAF dark sea grey query
Re: RAF dark sea grey query
I think the Shackleton will be Dark Sea Grey BS381 638, same as the grey in the RAF grey green camouflage. The RN colour is Extra Dark Sea Grey BS381 640.
