A fairly quick build of a simple kit. It has pretty decent fit for a kit of its age. The only real issue was getting enough weight in the nose(?)
Astonishing to think this aircraft first flew in 1947 and has almost exactly the same wingspan as the B-2.

Very nice build Derek, certainly a design that stands out from the norm. Great finish too, what paints did you use?

First flew 1947, first crashed 1948. Jack Northrop was a man ahead of his time as a designer: flying wings had to wait for modern computing power applied to control of the aircraft, to be feasible.
Lovely job on the model!

I too would like to know what paint you used.
Re: AMT/ERTL 1/72 Northrop YB-49
Thanks for the comments folks. The paints used were Vallejo Aluminium and Vallejo Steel sprayed at lowish presssure. The black walkway markings were also masked and sprayed.

In 2003, just a stones throw (if you have a strong arm, that is) from where this airplane crashed, i purchased some parts from the 49.
the crash site is easy to find, not far from Edwards North gate, and it is littered with parts (albeit small) of 49.
