Meiringen during Axalp 21 (repost)

Post by Dr Cake »

Sadly I was too quick off the mark with this post previously to miss the great November 21 forum loss. So, for the record, I'm reposting some of the photos here - mods please move to another more appropriate forum if necessary.

To recap it was a very late decision to go. To summarise it was a solo trip via public transport, declining the actual demo in the mountains and simply chilling out at base.

Sunday

I'm gradually ticking off all the interesting non-aviation things local to Meiringen. This year's choice was walking in the Rosenlaui valley.

It was the last day of the 2021 season for the Rosenlaui Hotel:

I walked as far as where the path up to Wildgarst starts from the road (15 mins walk up the car park at Schwarzwaldalp). The view from here back down the valley:

Some of the stunning scenery during the walk back down to the glacial falls:

Monday

Most definitely the quietest Monday I've ever experienced here. However, the glorious weather certainly helped matters:

Much busier as expected but less decent photos due to the cloud:

Pretty sure I made this comment on the original thread Richard but these are absolutely splendid... I just love that red kite, and well done on capturing the tiger-striped Hunter before its retirement.
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...
