….and had a repaint in the 90s [?] which was not to modern standards…

Was that just a coat of clear lacquer brushed on? Seem to recall that?

That section of the Victor was still unpainted on Sunday evening.

Now owned by Hurricane Heritage/James Brown according to the HH website. To be based at Duxford when not flying from White Waltham?

Duxford Wednesday 16th March:

Poor weather today, with only a Victor update to offer:

Image

Yesterday's sunshine will hopefully be back. The recently arrived BAe 146 was taxied for some engine checks before the powerplants are replaced.

So what is the latest on the P-51C? Will we get to see it fly this year?

Saturday 26th March:

Horrible haze and lighting at Duxford but we were treated to a short display by the Aero Legends Douglas C-47B-35-DK Dakota/KP220/(G-ANAF).

It's off to Leeds tomorrow Sunday: from Aero Legends Facebook
Aero Legends will be performing a Flypast over tomorrow’s ceremony with our wartime Douglas C47 Dakota KP220. KP220 has a fantastic history, originally being delivered to the US Army Air Forces in June 1945 as 44-77104 before being transferred to the RAF as a Dakota IV, serial KP220. It spent the late 1940s operating with No 24 Squadron at Bassingbourn.
We look forward to see you from overhead the City of Leeds at 12:00

Great shots! Do you know if the Dakota returned to North Weald or did it re-locate for tomorrows flypast in Leeds?

The Leeds flypast was actually today, the Dak headed South after Duxford, not sure of destination.

Duxford Friday 1st April:

Very little airfield activity this morning, but hard work continues behind the scenes.
The HAC / Polish Historic Flight Hurricane G-HURI / R4175 was receiving attention, and there's more paint on the Victor !

This question has probably been asked before but in case it hasn't, will the Victor be going back outside when she's finished?

No, straight into the front of AirSpace - the Conservation area.

The Victor is being moved to AirSpace, probably, this month. The plan is to publicise the day she is moving so the public can see the movement. Once in AirSpace the outer wings and tail will be reattached. She will be there for a few years as there are plans to remodel much of the collections over the next decade.
H5 will be closed for a few months for rearranging, including preparing the next big restoration project.in addition some large items currently stored on north side will be move down into H5. Keep an eye on the website for details.
