From the amber list we might get something from the French Navy and potentially Solo Turk. I dont think USAF will be providing any more flying displays and it looks like the TBC Czech Gripen and Alca wont attend.Flightech wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:26 amI was hoping for some flying from the planes that were on that Amber list as we are quite close to the event.
When Riat says they are now extending the flying display to fit everything in, I'm not so sure, is there really enough flying for more than 7 hours?

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
I wouldn't say no chance to the US Navy, with it being a Farnborough year. A Superbug could potentially happen. (Edit actually this'd probably come under civilian as Boeing borrow a US Navy jet)
But Flightech is right, as DBH have said we shouldn't read into ongoing too much.

I agree with all of your post other than this bit - remember the P-1 a few years ago? Pretty much confirmed by DBH after it had taken off from Japan IIRC!
I mean, I think it's extremely unlikely, but you never know.
Take nothing away from this line up so far though - if nothing else was announced we'd still be in line for the best, most varied airshow certainly in the UK by a mile, if not much further afield.
Just to have secured the Swedes and the Scooter is incredible and a massive testament to the skills of the team, with Peter at the helm.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
The lack of 'missed/low approaches' at RIAT arrivals has been a bug-bear with me for the last few shows. Part of it may be lack of fuel after pootling around with the Skyvan for ages, but (and happy to be corrected if I'm wrong...) I suspect that UK air show regs might prohibit participants who aren't flying display pilots from doing them. For instance, in 2019 barely anything did a missed approach except the Belgian F-16 demo jet..the other 2 that arrived at the same time just did standard, high, run & breaks to land. The Hunter went around a few times but I believe that had a specific purpose relating to checking the display distances/heights...
*If* I'm right (may not be) then the CAA/MAA would have kittens if they visited LN for the day! (Joke)
I do wish they'd allow more go-arounds from the static jets in particular, but there's hardly any do it now. If it's busy then fair enough...but arrivals days aren't *that* busy with less turning up than used to.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Yes I'd be saying that was civilian for the purposes of the list of invitees!
Very true, but it was also part of a sales pitch to the MOD that brought it over in the first place, so the chances of them coming to the UK are pretty much nil I'd say now!
Of course, I do sit and wait to be pleasantly surprised when the announcements roll in (or they don't, I'm looking at you, 2017 IDF C-130J!)

there is still 3 announcements, and if i remember we had some really late announcements in the past. i think the Su-27 one year announced on the tuesday of the week i think?Flightech wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:26 amI was hoping for some flying from the planes that were on that Amber list as we are quite close to the event.

DBH will know whos announced and who they are talking to. they may just be keeping their powder dry on other flying acts

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
C-2 flew at Dubai I believe, so there is a chance if they decide to double up with Farnborough and every chance of something on static from Japan still as they're usually a late confirmation.cg_341 wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:31 amJapan Air Self Defense Force - Not a chance
For statis display I doubt we'll see anything from the Aeronavale, nor India, Japan, or Thailand. Qatar may bolster their Hawk with a Typhoon if it's handed over in time (or they bung some more money Warton's way I suppose!). Turkish Land Forces are possible with the T129 which is heading for Farnborough, and there's still a chance of US assets; Ramstein C-130, Weisbaden based Huron or Citation, maybe a SHAPE Blackhawk, US Navy E-6B have been decent supporters in the past too, perhaps a P-8 unit although they're all very heavily engaged in operations at the moment.
Something from the French Navy is still possible, even if its a Xingu on static. One not flashing but regular supporters in recent years, and they love their spray paint is Pakistan, so we could get a late surprise there.
Other than that, I'd be surprised if we don't get a Voyager on static, maybe a USAF C-17, one or two bits from Qinetiq for the training theme and a regular late comer like the Danish Challenger (although the red and white F-16 back for just static would be great).

Is this the first time the Army Air Corps won't be attending?

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
I think RIAT air ops said that not all military flying participants have been announced yet - but at the same time we got told that no more civilian slots are available on the weekend. So I think DBH have some TBCrockfordstone wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:44 amthere is still 3 announcements, and if i remember we had some really late announcements in the past. i think the Su-27 one year announced on the tuesday of the week i think?Flightech wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:26 amI was hoping for some flying from the planes that were on that Amber list as we are quite close to the event.

Looks like no Apache for static this year, unless the Netherlands Air Force add one closer to the show.Skylinerworld wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:50 amIs this the first time the Army Air Corps won't be attending?

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
My bet is on a July 4th USAF announcement from DBH, and yes I know the 4th is not a Thursday .......
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
As much as i'd love it to happen, I wouldn't bank on it ^
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
I think you are clutching at straws there!
Obviously nothing confirmed yet but would be nice to understand why both the F-35 and A-10 were down for the weekend (gap still in schedule) and why they were suddenly removed. I understand why one of them might pull out due to a clash of commitments but both pulling is very strange. Some confirmation would halt the 'will they wont they' rabble at least!

Do Qinetiq still fly the prototype Hawk T1?capercaillie wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:47 am...one or two bits from Qinetiq for the training theme...

If the display pilot categorically saying they are not coming won't halt the 'will they, won't they' then what will?
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
XX154 last flew in 2018 and is now at Old Sarum.CJS wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 12:13 pmDo Qinetiq still fly the prototype Hawk T1?capercaillie wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:47 am...one or two bits from Qinetiq for the training theme...
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Indeed! But the F-35 demo pilot has not confirmed this hence the reason there is still so much speculation. I know its not DBH prerogative to tell us why, some transparency would be nice.

ETPS fleet is Grob 120, PC-21, DA-42, RJ70, RJ100, A109, H125, Bell 412 and an AW139 was joining the fleet.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Elusive H145 as well which is usually based up in Scotland but it back at Boscombe at the moment. I'd be quite happy if someone at QinetiQ had a moment of madness and agreed to send one of everything..!capercaillie wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 12:31 pmETPS fleet is Grob 120, PC-21, DA-42, RJ70, RJ100, A109, H125, Bell 412 and an AW139 was joining the fleet.

Such a shame the AAC cant commit to showing off its new Apaches, even if only on static.
No Gazelle, given their imminent retirement?

Re the Swedish......What would be nice is either a missed approach or T&G on arrival, or tower giving them a chance to give us side views at our level (FRIAT) on departures day.
