International Auster Club 40th anniversary Rearsby Fly-In.

Post by yrret »

Yesterday marked a great occasion in the Auster club calendar with a Fly-In to the hallowed ground at Rearsby. The event should have taken place on the Saturday but unfortunately the poor weather caused a late cancellation, which was a great shame as 49 Austers had PPR'd to attend.

However the sun eventually came out on Sunday and 15 Austers made it to Rearsby including this beast, the worlds only flying Auster B8 Agricola; not the worlds prettiest aeroplane but its rarity I think is worthy of a post. My equipment isn't the finest so please excuse any photographic deficiencies .

I believe it's the only complete airframe, yes.

There were 8 built initially, most of which went to New Zealand, and were later crashed. Two more (including this one) were later built up in New Zealand using parts from the various crashed examples.

Great to see it back in the air, even if it isn't the prettiest aeroplane ever built!
