Small quiz-airfield identification

Post by PeteFenwick »

Dear All-very bored with lack of general aviation events. I have scanned some old prints (not great quality) and invite responses to the 5 airfields-do you know which airfield is in these pics? A prize of a pint to the first correct answer (if we ever meet) and a congratulatory handshake (if allowed)-be interested to see the replies (first 4 in UK 5th obviously not)-

Scan 4 copy - that's Shobdon

Untitled -105-1 - that's Caernarfon

I recognised both right away, but still pondering the other UK ones ;)

I'm trying to work out when the Shobdon picture was taken. The gravel pit is in excavation stage by the bare earth but the poplars on the airfield side and the east of the pit haven't grown. But they've since grown and been cut down as have the ones on the industrial estate side. Odd thing is I could have sworn they were all there before the gravel pit got to that size???? Unless its more recent and the gravel pit vegetation has been cleared despite being abandoned????

Number 4 is Caernarfon, Haverfordwest is much further from the coast. :sunglasses:
