RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
You can find the daily flying schedule in the Souvenir Programme and specific slot times announced on airshow radio. The organisers don't publish it by other means. A daily sheet of lies can be purchased in park and view for arrivals.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Plus the daily sheet of lies is given out to FRIAT members on show days too - and then normally plastered all over social media for everyone else too

Thanks - So just to check the program will show the expected running order but not actual times?

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Perhaps worth noting that there have been very, very few years where the flying display has run on time all day for even one day.
No one's fault, it just happens.
No one's fault, it just happens.
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
It will list the display aircraft in hour slots. For example, between 3pm and 4pm there will be a display team and three solo's listed. It's enough to plan your day.douglas334 wrote: ↑Fri 08 Jul 2022, 8:52 pmThanks - So just to check the program will show the expected running order but not actual times?
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Also, doesn't the Airtattoo app include the (approx.) timings of some of the star items?
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Is there a reason why they dont publish it a few days before, so people can plan their day better ? I get that planes can change time, but its usually pretty accurate , and as a guideline it would be helpful. Or is it to try and make people buy the £12 programme.....
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
If you're selling something, why would you also give it away for free? Your last sentence is absolutely correct.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Is the 2022 App available already then , as i cant see it in the App store. Cheers.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
These are very recent changes (still unknown yesterday). Good news about the Austrian's, they must be a highlight for many. Still some unknowns such as the Hungarian Gripen. Seems quite late in the day to be arranging the Friday flying.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Anyone think there is any possibility of arranging a collection bucket in the FRIAT reception in memory of Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko for families of those killed in the 831st Guards Tactical Aviation Brigade or indeed the Ukrainian Air Force? Perhaps there is a FRIAT person with good connection with RIAT? Would need a bit of work with some sort of notice or banner printed out...
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Looks like the Friday list has been updated. Several previously announced flying items are now in italics, and are all shown as flying on the Friday:
-Austrian Typhoon QRA + C-130
-RR Spitfire
-AW149
-727 + Blades
-Czech Hip / Hind
-Finnish Hawk
-Heer NH90
-Italy C-27
-NATO E-3 FP
-SwAF SK60
-RAF Typhoon
-Red Arrows
-P8 + Red Arrows
-ROKAF Black Eagles
-SwAFH Arrival?
Looks about right for a 1000-1500 display.

Question re: P&V
Is it possible to travel between the East and West, or are they totally separate areas?
Also where is the parking for P&V? Just trying to plan my day next Thursday.
Many thanks

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
They're totally separate areas. You can drive from one to the other, but walking it isn't possible.
Parking is right next to P&V, either on the Red / Green car park areas

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Think I'm sold on the Friday display, but as I'll be travelling from home, how have traffic and queues been for it in previous years? And I wonder, with an early finish to the flying would there be enough time after to go and take a leisurely walk round the static?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Brilliant thank you! I’ll be heading for West I think, as always watch from the Red zone on show days. It will be nice to get a different view.
Thanks again

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
I find Friday "quieter" than Sat/Sun - I travel in from Worcestershire, so on the green route, but I do tend to arrive around 8.00 each morning so can only speak for that time of day, and usually drive straight in, albeit with a bit of slow but moving traffic as you get a couple of miles from the car park. I drive round to Blue entrance for Friday as Green Zone closed and no pedestrian access, again don't have any delays to speak of.Costar1198 wrote: ↑Sat 09 Jul 2022, 11:30 amThink I'm sold on the Friday display, but as I'll be travelling from home, how have traffic and queues been for it in previous years? As for wandering around, I'm in FRIAT and that has a closure time of 5.30, so assume showground open until 6.00 (I haven't looked), so time for a decent wander before and after the displays.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Might be a bit late now, but great idea. I got some of my Saint Javelin order thru today so will have at least a sticker on my case and a combat raccoon t-shirt on at some point!Berf wrote: ↑Sat 09 Jul 2022, 9:20 amAnyone think there is any possibility of arranging a collection bucket in the FRIAT reception in memory of Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko for families of those killed in the 831st Guards Tactical Aviation Brigade or indeed the Ukrainian Air Force? Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
That had been showing as Cancelled since Thursday.
Fingers crossed it's the last one - cancellations have been really low this year, which is obviously brilliant
