Weather doesn't seem to be too bad this upcoming weekend - Saturday seems to be a bit more windy compared to the Sunday so far.

What is the Black Eagles cut down version display like for southport? is its just the first half of the display or mix of both halves ( full version )?

The 8 Black Eagles did 3 passes in a diamond shape with a missing number 9 ( if you imagine that ).

They came in low over my head at Ansdell/Fairhaven beach and left in a steep climb over Lytham.

EDIT - cloud base today and yesterday looked about 1,500ft.
So they were very flat both “practice” - looked more like familiarisation Flight than a practice on both days. Getting the axis and extremes sorted.

Looks like we are all set for some nice weather over the week end and to continue right through to Riat and beyond. Fingers crossed we get some nice displays and photo opportunities this year.

Display Typhoon and a spare just nearly took my new roof off.

Landed at Blackpool 12:22.

Scrub that. They are doing a series of touch and goes and trying for my roof over and again.

From the interview with the synchro lead from the black eagles on European Airshows website the black eagles will perform the first half of their display at both Southport ( due to distance from Boscombe) and FIA ( due to airspace restrictions)!

Will be spectacular!

Enjoyed the show yesterday. Typhoon and Spitfire combo very pleasing. Black Eagles nice underside body scheme.

Queues for food and drink though very long.

I really enjoyed the Airshow at Southport both days. It was a very varied display, with something for everyone. A bargain for a 4 hour display, at only 10 Pounds ! It was a shame today, that pockets of low white cloud, obscured the Aircraft alot of the time, whilst they were displaying, most notably the Black Eagles display team. Memorable as always to see the three ship BBMF Lancaster Spitfire and Hurricane display. And especially today seeing them takeoff, from Blackpool Airport in the distance.

And an sight to behold, seeing the BBMF Spitfire IX MK356, doing a few formation Flypasts with the Eurofighter Typhoon.

Also memorable to see the two Spitfires V and XIX doing a few formation flypasts based at Woodvale during and after WW2. The Spitfire VB BM597 display was good like yesterday, but i was a bit dissapointed, with the Rolls-Royce Spitfire XIX PS853 display today. It seemed rather high and distant, compared with the other Spitfires Display today, for alot of the time, there was the odd lower pass.

I think Peter Teichmans P51 Mustang display was the best Warbird display for me.

So an excellent Airshow, and roll on next years display. I am really looking forwards, to Blackpool Airshow in August. Eddie Winch ))
