The VAC held a fly-in and picnic at Bicester on Sunday. A good turnout at this lovely grass airfeld, which I had not visited before. In my flying days it was a place to avoid because of the intense gliding, which still takes place there.
Pride of place went to an immaculate Travel Air
There was a very nice Leopard Moth, G-ACMA, parked next to it
There were a couple of Austers. G-AOCU / MT349 was a combat veteran of Normandy and on into Germany. It suffered combat damage from bullets and shrapnel, and looks quite pugnacious! The other Auster was G-BEAH
Cessna 140 G-BOCI
An immaculate Stearman
A Pitts Special G-BRRP was parked alongside
Chipmunk and Bulldog trainers
A Tipsy Belfair, G-APIE
An unusual Hatz CB-1, G-HATZ
A couple of Cubs
A Jodel, G-AWWO
Gliders were around too, including Fournier RF-5 G-AZRM
A visiting Czech motorglider OK-BUA
The resident Scheibe SF25C motorgliders were busy giving trips all day. This one is G-KLUB
