Yes apologies.The Notam was misinterpreted.And the Mail actually got it right which is a miracle in itself.

A Hercules and two Tornadoes just flown over St Ives Cambs heading north. I thought London was the other way.

Ignoring the aircraft ID issues, they had already been over London.
They kept formation all the way to Peterborough, when the C130 did a U-turn over Peterborough and headed back to Brize via the normal military cross-country corridor over Northampton and the 2 x Typhoon's climbed up to 12k ft and headed back to Coningsby.
