I've been doing that walk for years and still here to type about it.

Has anyone here used the shuttle buses at all? I was too late getting a ticket for the car park, so will use the shuttle bus. Looking at getting the train to Cambridge but won't get to Cambridge until half 11, so will not have many buses to get before I'd be late for the flying. Are they normally full (& people left behind) or does everyone get on ok?
My alternative is to drive to Trumpington and use the bus from there. Will be able to get there earlier so will have more chances of getting on a bus.
You could also get a train from Cambridge to Whittlesford which is about a mile's walk from IWM Duxford. It is on the Cambridge to London Liverpool Street line and many / most of the trains stop at Whittlesford as it has a large car park.

If you were a bit late you would at least get a view of much of the flying as you walk.
That works quite well actually. I'll do that. Thank you.

P51 "Hun Hunter~Texas" and Fairey Swordfish removed.

Vampire FB6 added
Miss Helen gone too. Seems to have been removed from every show it was announced at this year.
I think Hun Hunter could maybe be doing the Heritage flight at Sanicole maybe?

Anyone been on a friday before know if its worth going to see arrivals or practices? I cant get over at the weekend unfortunately but have got Thursday and Friday off and my 2 year old lad loves aircraft so wondered if there would be plenty of flying for him to see if we went? His attention span for the museum would not be great at the minute but any flying and he is well happy sitting and watching.

Thanks

Been on the Friday a few times a lot less busy but you’d be really unlucky to see nothing fly. Weather dependant of course
Added advantage is that you can sit pretty much where you want along the fenceline so your boy could have some good close up views as they taxi by (and hopefully some waves from the pilots).

I did the Park and Ride in 2019. We were coming from Shropshire and were a little late, so I don't think we got to Duxford until about 1130. There was a big queue but we made it in with ample time for the flying display in the end. I recommend the Park and Ride, especially if you can get yourself there early.

I see parking tickets for Saturday have now sold out, but you can still get entrance tickets.

Hopefully the right helicopter this time (🤪) but there’s a Czech Hip plotting on ADSB airborne from Koksijde, heading for the channel crossing. Showing as the same one that was at RIAT (9813).

Any news on which Hind will be coming?

If its either 3369 with the Wellington on the side or 3370 in Coastal Command colours, I'm keen to try and get pictures.

Haven’t seen the Hind plotting yet. It didn’t for the RIAT transit either though, you usually only get the lead aircraft tracking in a formation.

I’m hoping for a bog standard camo one tbh but I think they sent the god awful alien one to Zeltweg?

Just coming in over the Essex cost so hopefully someone will be able to report within the hour which ones we have.

I know what you mean about the alien, its not the nicest looking thing out there, saw it at Biggin Hill a few years back. I've seen plenty of standard camo ones, which are very smart, but I do really like the artwork of the Wellington and Liberator on the recent special.

I’m pretty sure that 3370 has lost its colours and has already been donated to Ukraine mate.

The specials (as far as I’m aware) are the psychedelic alien tiger and the blue Wellington one.

If the worst happens with Her Majesty, this show will be cancelled I would think.

Personally, I'd be very surprised if it was cancelled. I'd expect a 2 min silence and a tribute though.

Poorly judged in my opinion, if indeed it's the case. The country is in deep mourning for goodness sake.
