Combat Aircraft Monthly and AirForces Monthly?
Are these two magazines the same? Both have an identical layout and the majority of articles are written in a similar style.

These two magazines are different.
They are published by two different magazine publishing houses. Key Publishing for AFM and Ian Allan Publishing for CA.
There will always be some overlap as they both cover the military aviation arena. Also, both magazines may have reporters at the same exercise or air event. An example might be an exercise is for 2 weeks, but the media event is one day and is covered by reporters for both magazines.
Even then there may well be editorial differences, one magazine may devote 6 pages to a report and the other maybe 6 paragraphs. The magazine editor wields the axe!!
I used to get both magazines. I may well restart the subscription that lapsed because I think they are diverse enough to warrant reading.
