Museum aircraft leaking liquid

Post by B_Tank88 »

I noticed that on a lot of the museum displays a lot of the old biplanes were leaking some kind of liquid, oil I guess. There were catch plates and cans with oil pooling in them.

What is the story behind this?

Old aircraft leak oil, especially rotaries which have a total lost oil systems

I remember being told with old aircraft if you cannot see oil under it, there is probably no oil in it. Or as an older gentleman put it "old things leak".
