I'm not overly surprised but I was really hoping the Vampire might make an appearance at this one.

NYK and Rapide MM? Am I missing something, what are they, and the NYK must be so interesting it's listed twice?

On the whole a little bit underwhelming if that's the final list, but still potentially worth the trip for the DH84 which I've yet to see.

Rapide MM, would it be Mark Millers example?

Aero Legends' Devon VP981 would be nice to see, especially in a formation with Rapides, (etc.)

BoB HITT? I assume that is the Battle of Britain, but what about HITT?

Any suggestions, please?

Yes, it was previously based at Old Warden for a period.

Thanks Mike, I stand corrected. I believe that you are correct that G-HITT is still based at OW. For some reason I thought that it had moved.

G-HUPW was based there for a short while and then moved out to Duxford.

Updated programme for today from notes I made while given on the PA (so may be some errors, for which I apologise - but to give an idea of the plan)

2- Chipmunk
Hurricane
Comet
Gladiator
Lysander
Fauvel with Super Cub
Provost
Cheeky Champ
Dragon Rapide
15:30
Spitfire and Sea Hurricane

If wind allows
EON Primary
Desoutter 1 if not Magister

Tiger Moth x2, DH51, DH60, Hornet Moth, Gypsy Moth

Sopwith Triplane/Camel/Pup/Avro 504K

So, considering this is supposed to be a 'DH100 show', there is only one Dragon Rapide, no Dragon, no Puss Moth or Leopard Moth...all of which were advertised? If that's all there is, that's not good value for your £50 IMO!

What a dense comment to make. Are you completely unaware of the *checks* very strong winds experienced all over the UK this weekend, which has unfortunately hampered the excellent visiting participation?

Very wise call not to risk the rare DH birds in this wind!

My main interest is jets, but I love Old Warden so try to visit at least once a year. So far i've been to every OW show this year, partly to show my support - and partly just to make up for missing so many other cancelled events.

Ordinarily I wouldn't have given today a second look as its not really my thing, but despite the cold wind, I enjoyed today a huge amount. A great sight to see all the Moths in the air at once, and the Comet display was out of this world.

A shame about the cancellations, but Old Warden just pull it out of the bag every time - even when conditions scupper plans.

This was our second drive-in show at Old Warden this year and once again we found it very well organised and enjoyed the day. Yes, the cancellations were disappointing but understandable given the strong winds. To be honest, given the winds on the day, we were pleased anything flew and it was great that Shuttleworth have the ability to swap aircraft into the flying that could cope with the conditions. My personal favorites were the Hurricane, Dragon Rapide, Moths and of course the Comet. I am sure I herd them say that it was the pilots first public display in the Comet ?
It is nice to be able to walk around the display aircraft freely and get up close, while being patient still able to get photos. There was one man being rather loud and vocal about people near aircraft just looking at them and not taking photos, which in his world is not allowed as it got in the way of his photos. I had to smile as he had no issue standing in peoples way who were also trying to take photos. Sometimes it is nice to just take time to look and appreciate rather than view all through a camera lens.
All being well we hope to make the final show in October too.

Did anyone else notice the light aircraft whose pilot clearly hadn't read their NOTAMs? Just before they released the glider.

Only airshow I've been to this year so glad to see anything fly

Quite unbelievable piece of flying by that jerk. Flew under the Fauvel/cub and above the Desoutter, I certainly reported him, hope he gets a real dressing down, or a ban would be better.
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
