A few from Fairford 1991. This was just after Gulf War 1 so a few specially marked aircraft turned up.

Now that's what IAT should be like, not the "one show fits in everything family day out" it is now, 91 was probably the best I attended ! If I remember there were another 5 FGR2s from 74sqn, as it was Tiger Meet, and another blue one, plus F4F's and G's, and just a hint of the special scheme Jag in the one shot. Oh and the tiger F111, oh memories. Also 2 MiG29s with the 23, and Cub for support.....
I'll have to dig round, see what I can find to add!
GR1s and F3s were just the padding then, not the "stars" they apparently are these days, 104s and A3s definately were.

Having been to 2 IATs (1991 and 1993) I have to say that 1991 (this one) was (as Brucie would say) "My Favourite!"................

Co-incidentally, I've been doing a lot of scanning lately and adding stuff to Flickr. Some of mine from IAT 91. Hope these work, never posted on here from Flickr..

Those were the days when you actually needed to get on the photobus to make sure you saw all the flying stuff on the Northside..

Great shots , from a great show. I was a passenger on that IL-18 when it did a pleasure flight for about an hour

Some cracking shots there. Its heartbreaking just seeing that, and then looking at this years dire straits... it really does highlight it, days never to be seen again

My last Tattoo! (although i did drive in the vicinity once or twice when the show was on!)
It was great weather on the Sunday and an all round good show, the only disappointment for me (Apart from missing the Tornado F3 while stuck in traffic  )was the Mig 29 display was cut short..
I still have the Programme, which cost £4,pretty hefty 19 yrs ago ...since the price at the gate on the day was £12!

Anyone spot Paul Jackson in the background of one of the shots?

The days of the great airshows seem to be slipping away, it's nice to know members have so many photo's of Past times to keep nostalgia alive.

That year the Czech MiG29 cut short his display when one of its engines decided to not work. Got fuel all over my car windscreen and it took ages to get clear to see thro ! Thats what I get for working there ! :wall: :wall: :wall:

Memory lane for me. We camped in the baseball pitch in my parents camper van (very posh it was  ) Got photos of me and my Dad sat in that very Mig 29 on static. An enterprising Czech guy was selling patches for a tenner and you could sit in the Mig as well if you wanted,If we wanted?? You couldn't get me in it quick enough!!
I even took shots inside the cockpit in disbelief that we could see a 29 at Fairford let alone sit in it.
Possibly the best IAT I ever went too, maybe the first Bear shaded it but only just.

Maybe someone likes to see this shot I took of that IL-18. I don't usually take photos of civil aircraft, but I make an exception for IL-18s.

Yes, a marvellous year - Tiger Meet, Desert Storm, Czech Air Force and so much more. The Fouga Magister was probably my favourite paint-job, including metallic paints if I remember correctly!

Some great pictures on this thread as well - thanks for posting them.
The past is a foreign country: they fly different aeroplanes there.

Amazing to see some people saying it was their first IAT. It was my last! Went to Boscombe the following year and that was it. All to mundane now when I see photo's of the current years. What happened to the charismatic aircraft like the Phantom, F-111? Long gone and missed. Apart from the Turks and Greeks that is

Does anybody by any chance have any photos of USAF C-130A Hercules 70453, with the nose art "Nite Train to Memphis" of the Tennessee ANG based at Memphis Airport which was on Static at Fairford IAT '91?

Yes, can clearly remember taking shots of it, pushing 8pm in the evening, light fading fast, parked next to Pa ANG tanker with nose art too, will dig them out and put them thru the scanner for you, also the Bitburg Tiger F15, which I'm surprised hasn't appeared on this thread yet!

FGR2 Phantom arriving, if I remember this won the concours competition, surprising considering the other Tigers that were present!
