Wes_Howes ! Thank you ! Yes the Wellesley photo is rare .... in fact following a lot of research, by John Aeroclub, on another forum it is actually L2681 one of four long range development Wellesleys with the long cord engine cowling which made an historic flight !!
And I share your sentiment about the Blenheim .... Duxford will never witness that again .... fingers crossed !

Although the starboard undercarriage on the Blenheimhas collapsed, it doesn't look like the engine was running at the time. (Propellor blades aren't bent).

Have to agree - that shot of the Sunderland's is awesome. The picture of the Bristol Blenheim reminded me of my Granddad's aircraft he flew in the War. He passed a few years back but had several stories of his crash landings. I remember being 8 or 9 years old and asked him if he had shot many enemy planes down. "Shot at them son, shot at them" was his reply.

Excellent posts Keith and yes very rare!

The first photo in your latest post has me intrigued?...RAF roundals with the inclusion of a "Swastika" no less on the lower wing....Interesting????

Thank you Timc ! Yes that part of that photo has caused a lot of discussion in the past ! .... apparently it was used in the 30's in North Africa / Arab regions as a symbol of peace, thereby displayed on RAF aircraft to help with their 'control' role in the area at that time ! but known as a 'flyfot's' not a swastica !! Also note it is displayed at 45 degrees (the original) ! Whereas when that symbol was later used by a n other person or group (other groups are available) it was always at 90 degrees ???? phew hope that helps a little ???

Indeed, the history of the swastika is very interesting and was (and still is) a symbol of luck amongst others until adopted by the national socialists...
