Wonderful stuff. There seems to be a distinct lack of barriers around the Austrian Skyvan.
Thanks for posting.

More fantastic shots of a truly memorable event. The year the Tattoo really took it's place at the top of the International air show scene.
That Herc must've been very close to the photobus!! :hide:

They're terrific. So many great looking aircraft from a golden period of military aviation. Hard to pick a favourite (the F-14 is particularly nice) but those FAA Buccaneers look the job!

Amazing to think this show was closer to the Second World War than today... :shock:

[quote="IanC"]And a few more:

ImageLockheed C-130K Hercules, RAF by Ian Cole, on Flickr

Tried to do a 'then and now' pic with the Hercules - picture taken yesterday to demonstrate how different GC looks now!
However, I'm failing miserably in getting my picture to show - can anyone help please?

These are wonderful and great that you took slides and not bloody colour neg !!! What I'd really love to see are more flying shots , and as always , the teams get left out. Do you have any of Patrouille de France and Frecce Tricolori in action ??? Thanks for posting though, at last so more truly "old " stuff.

dreamworker - sadly with my equipment then I never got many good flying shots, they all seem too distant and not sharp enough

Oh yes, I remember it well. My favourite has to be the KC97...
Here's a few shots of what the airfield looks like now... :sad:

If you're ever over this way pop in to the tower museum/visitor centre and have a look around. I think you'll like it. You can still walk to the runway cross section where the FIAT enclosure used to be. (photos 1& 6)

I remember the KC-97 arriving, we were camping at the end of the runway to be woken up by the 97 buzzing the tower early in the morning . A rush to get the camera . Just made it, got a couple of shots. Happy days.
