I always thought that Czechoslovak camo was the best looking for Mig-29s. Great photos as always. Particularly like the ETPS Jag (the angle of the stationary one).

After a healthy round of Phantoms come a couple of Tornados.
The first six pictures (images #450 to #455) were all taken at Lechfeld Air Base during NTM’98, then home of JaBoG 32 with 1.Staffel/32 (321.Sqn) being the hosting tiger unit. The event also covered JaBoG 32’s 40th anniversary with one Tornado ECR in a very attractive but seldom seen special paint scheme,
#450 Tornado ECR 46+47 - seen here on finals RW21 at its homebase after yet another 40+ aircraft COMAO during NTM’98:
Image
#451 Tornado ECR 46+45 was 321’s tiger jet for NTM’98:
Image
#452 Tornado ECR 46+31 represented JaBoG 32’s other squadron, 2.Staffel ‚The Flying Monsters‘ keeping up the inner-wing rivalry between the two Lechfeld squadrons in good fashion with this ‚Monster Jet‘:
Image
#453 Tornado ECR 46+52 in standart grey camo with an EG1-badge (Einsatzgeschwader 1) on the intake, indicating its participation in the deployment to Piacenza/Italy for what became Op ALLIED FORCE later in 1999:
Image
The Italian participation in NTM’98 included several Tornado ADVs from 53°Stormo, 21°Gruppo at Cervia, including
#454 Tornado ADV MM7234(53-14) in special tiger/anniversary colours:
Image
#455 and Tornado ADV MM55060(53-01):
Image
the other AMI Tornado ADV-operator was 36°Stormo,12°Gruppo at Gioia del Colle,
#456 Tornado ADV MM7227(36-22) - awaiting its departure from RAF Cottesmore after RIAT’01:
Image
Back to German Tornados,
#457 Tornado IDS 44+88 AG51 40th anniversary of Luftwaffe Tac Recce from Schleswig/Jagel - seen here blasting out of NAS Eggebek on 15th June, 2000 during Exe CLEAN HUNTER 2000:
Image
#458 Tornado IDS 43+38 AG51 Schleswig/jagel - landing at Schleswig on 6th April, 1997:
Image
#459 Tornado IDS 45+14 MFG2 Eggebek with two inert Kormoran anti-ship missiles under its belly - posing for the cameras during the 1991 MFG2 Spottersday on 1st Aug., 1991:
Image
#460 Tornado IDS 43+81 AG51 Schleswig/Jagel in the naval NORM87- camo indicating its previous operator MFG1 - taking off from Jagel 6th Sept., 1999:
Image
#461 Tornado IDS 45+00 JaBoG33 at Büchel - landing at Jever on 24th Oct., 1995:
Image
#462 Tornado ECR 46+53 JaBoG32/EG1 at Lechfeld - taxying at Schleswig on 6th Sept., 1999:
Image
#463 Tornado IDS 45+46 MFG2 NAS Eggebek - landing at Eggebek 20th July, 1998:

More stuff to follow after RIAT - cheers for looking!

Most of these are from my spotting era, so many bases, so many types. But you certainly covered more locations than I did.

Another set of fast jets, this time a selection of RAF classics of the 90’s:
#522 Harrier GR.5 ZD400(02) No.1 Sqn RAF Wittering - Bierset airshow 24th June, 1990:
Image
#523 Harrier GR.7 ZG533(CF) No.4 Sqn RAF Laarbruch - Gilze-Rijen airshow 20th June, 1992:
Image
#524 Harrier GR.7 ZD464(54) No.20(R) Sqn RAF Wittering - RIAT’03:
Image
#525 - #528 Harrier GR.7 ZD407(36) No.20(R) Sqn RAF Wittering - RIAT’04:
#525

#526

#527

#528
Image
#529 Harrier GR.7 ZG862(94) No.1 Sqn RAF Wittering - RIAT’99:

from Harriers to Hawks…
#530 Hawk T.1A XX331(CK) No.100 Sqn RAF Leeming - landing at Yeovilton on 2nd June, 1994:
Image
#531 Hawk T.1A XX199(TG) No.74(R) Sqn/4 FTS RAF Valley - Cambrai airshow 23rd May, 1993:
Image
… and on to Tornados…
#532 & #533 were both taken at Leeuwarden on 16th March, 1995 during DIAWACS’95 (the predecessor of the Frisian Flag-series of exercises).
#532 Tornado F.3 ZE167(HX) No.111 Sqn RAF Leuchars:
Image
#533 Tornado F.3 ZE757(GK) No.43 Sqn RAF Leuchars:
Image
#534 Tornado F.3 ZE810(P) No.111 Sqn RAF Leuchars, already with toned-down unit markings indicating the trend for the future of RAF fast jet apperances - arriving for RIAT’99:
Image
much more attractive was the classic grey/green camo with propper unit markings as can be seen on these examples here:
#535 Tornado GR.1A ZG711(E) No.13 Sqn RAF Marham - Bierset airshow 23rd June, 1990:
Image
#536 the same jet seen landing at Yeovilton on 5th June, 1994:
Image
but also the GR-fleet turned into grey pretty soon after, in the beginning still with unit markings which were also dropped later on
#537 Tornado GR.4 ZA554(DF) No.31 Squadron RAF Brüggen - note the ALARM missile and the huge Hindenburger underwing tanks! - arriving for RIAT’99:

Thank you if you’ve made it this far!
Cheers - Chris
