Time for some Islanders. These all turned up at the same hour bringing military show visitors. Even though I knew I wasn't allowed, I drove round to the tower on another "early lunch" and boldly went up the tower to ask the controllers if I could possibly snap them very quickly. I had exactly ONE minute between movements.........

Lastly, this one won't on the face of it, seem anything juicy. But to me, it's one of the rarest things I've ever seen and photoed.
Royal Navy Gazelle XW887 with RNAY Fleetlands Base Flight. Only 1 they had ever, hardly ever seen in public
Even rarer now, because as G-CBFD it crashed near Doncaster on 18/11/03.

I know, wierd ending. Anyway, if you're infectious I'll catch you again soon. Hope you enjoyed, C+C always welcome.......
Happy snapping, chaps,
Rupe

Really interesting stuff.....thanks for sharing.

Cor, some memories in amongst that lot!
That special-scheme Belgian Alpha was absolutely ubiquitous, it would always arrive first-thing in the morning on the Friday arrivals day for Leuchars Airshow.

Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...
Re: Pic 'n' Mix 1995 part too
great stuff, more please
Re: Pic 'n' Mix 1995 part too
Visited the air and space this summer, some of the halls were closed for refurbishment so only saw the X1 and X15. To be honest out of all the excellent museums in DC this was the one I was most disappointed by, probably because it had always been on my bucket list. I think the other museum they have out at Dulles is probably the best bet to see airframes these days

I've been to most of them, including the newish Museum of the American Indian. Rather surprised that it wasn't called the Museum of the Native American, but then I suppose that everyone born in the USA is a Native American.

I reckon your Gazelle at Helitech, Redhill is ZB 673. Logged it there on 20/09/95, which was the day (or at least one of the days, if there was more than one) when all the foreign Lynx flew in.
I photographed it at the Middle Wallop show the following year when it was coded "P" and the camo pattern is the same.
