Re: GOLDEN OLDIES 3
A lovely selection of memories in there John, Blackbird at Farnborough looks very menacing, both that and the Airbus FBW would be Farnborough 1986 though.
Also the Wessexes I believe would be earlier than 1988 at Yeovilton. I saw them in the assault in 1984, not sure if they were used after that year?
Lovely stuff though, look forward to more.

Re: GOLDEN OLDIES 3
Some lovely shots here, great post.
The Don Bullock A-26 accident was 1980, so your Invader shot is earlier than noted here, btw.

Re: GOLDEN OLDIES 3
Sorry about the captions folks. Have been hurriedly scanning stuff during a house move. Some slides have dates , others don't. The A26 Invader was taken I think in August 1980 (not as previously mentioned) 1981, at the marvellous little mini show at Fairoaks in Surrey. There were to my knowledge only two Fairoaks shows , the other being 1981. Jim Maitland ran a number of shows in 1980, each one with a little commemorative stamped programme and I managed to collect them all despite never getting too Sunderland ! The B25 is very poignant as this was towards the end of the show when everything , as we know, went horribly wrong. The slides were shot on Orwo film and I overexposed them rather badly. The scanning has enabled me to recover these treasures and tweet them, so they don't look too bad. I do have the A26 out too somewhere. The Wessex shot is from 1985 at Yeovilton, when I did a tour of western shows, to see the last season of The Vikings F104s. Terrific show at St Mawgan where the Buccaneers , trying to get round rules and regulations, planned an exercise over St Mawgan and brought a four ship in for a few runs before landing . The stars were however the Vikings...what a superb team.

Re: GOLDEN OLDIES 3
No need to apologise, the images are the priority and I have to say some of those have come out pretty darn good, especially shot on Orwo.
I'd love to have those Wessexes in my collection, cracking F-100 shot as well (that was Fairford 1997 - USAF 50th tribute).

An excellent collection - many thanks for taking the time to scan and post.

Keep these coming. I'm absolutely loving these memories. Especially the star fighters at Fairford.. Anyone remember the sneak pass on the Saturday. Went transonic if I remember rightly

Great collection. Love the SR-71 with the people in the background coming out to see it. The Buccaneer was my pick till I saw the F-4. Was that taken from a photo bus?

Re: Golden Oldies 3
Yes ! , the SR71 shot , although not a dynamic flying shot, has all the atmosphere of Farnborough. The Blackbird , although a more familiar site towards the end of its career was always an event when flew at shows, and the people gathering outside the control tower demonstrate this. The Phantom was indeed taken from the bus.....I was at Farnborough 74 actually with my Dad and have a few colour slides which I'll share....blimey it was wet!!
