Jalfrezi's 2021 Roundup (picture heavy)

Post by jalfrezi »

My year started off at Sywell, where I met up with Tommy to catch Peter Teichmann's visit to Sywell.

The following day saw me meet up with Tommy and Wissam at Heathrow for Air Force 1.

A couple of weeks later I was at Brize Norton with Wissam for the An-225 - shame the sun didn't come out!

July saw my first airshow for nearly two years! It was good to be back at Shuttleworth after a long time away.

Nothing then until September and my three week road trip around Western Europe. First stop saw me at Evereux Airbase hoping to catch the Gabriels, unfortunately the only movement all afternoon was one of the Armee de l'Air's new King Air ALSRs.

The next three days I was at the Air Legend Airshow at Melun Villaroche, met up with Wissam again on the Saturday.

Following Air Legend I headed to Nancy-Ochey to see if I could get some Mirage 2000Ds, spotting wasn't easy around the base but managed to get a few movements.

The next couple of days were a bit of a bust - day of nothing at Phalsbourg and then a day of rain. I headed to St Dizier on the Thursday with the forecasts not looking great, but it did clear up a bit during the day.

A QRA Mirage also stopped off....

Next up, three days at the Luxeuil Airshow, including spotters days.

After Luxeuil I crossed the border into Germany for a manic day of visiting museums - Sinsheim, Speyer and Hermeskeil.

Drove up to Buckeburg hoping to catch a CH-53 at the helicopter training base - no luck! But did get a few bits.

After Buckeburg I made a mad dash north to get to Hohn Airbase for the Transall farewell - unfortunately the weather was shocking, wind and driving rain - but I did get to see my CH-53!

Wittmund is only a short(ish) drive from Hohn, so I spent the Friday there. Fridays are usually quiet at most bases and it was the same at Wittmund with everything finished by early afternoon.

On the weekend I met up with a Dutch friend and we visited a couple of museums. He also took me to see the Fokker D.XXI under restoration at Hogeveen Airport.

Another excellent selection from a year that was not conducive to airshows and travel. Thanks for sharing.

The quality on these is superb, rain or shine. That last B-1 shot with the dramatic clouds is perfecto.

Top tier stuff as always mate - good to see you around throughout the year!

The Czech W-3 is my pick of the bunch. Fab light/contrast and a great composition. Not to denigrate from the rest though! Amazing work!

Hopefully see you for a few more pints & crapchat in 2022!

Cracking efforts Nick, some lovely shot in that selection. Looks like France was very rewarding mate, love some of those Mirages.

Was good to see you at Brize and LHR briefly, hope our paths cross again in the coming months.
Cheers
Aaron
