No public event, no naughty field, surely? Most of my spotting is outside the wire....

Duxford Wednesday 26th January:

Work on the DAS Herald continues, horizontal tail now removed and fin/rudder next:

Image

Destination is now confirmed as Morayvia at Kinloss, but work will take a week or two:

Image

The BAe146 CC.2 was 'sanitised' and handed over by the RAF today. New owners (of all 4 146s) are Pionair of Australia who will oversee some work before handover to DAS.

Image

I'm told it is now G-CMEU (just for the paperwork):

Image

The Aero Vintage DH.9's Puma was receiving attention today, hopefully it will be seen flying this year.

Among today's visitors, Minicab G-BRGW:

Nice to see the Victor continue it's journey back to completion. Is the Shackleton still there, as I hope it will be next on the list.

Today marks 30 years since A-10A 77-0259 arrived at Duxford.
I can't find arrival pictures, so seen here awaiting re-insertion into the AAM on 15-9-15:

I wish with all my heart these aircraft were displayed in a way they were clearly visible.

They should knock down the AAM and just build a big, cheap square hangar where they can pull exhibits in and out for proper display... I can dream!

I rather agree with this. The year they had the B-29 pulled out of the front - though they tried to mess up even that with a building site fence - it had more attention than the flying attractions.

Edit: for those who missed it:

No warbird activity today, but Pitts G-BPZY was one of 50 visiting light aircraft. Hard to believe it was built in 1970 !

To get that photo, the camera must have been on a very big pole. :)
