Exercise Ample Strike
Re: Exercise Ample Strike
If there's a NOTAM, save something going tech, there will be a movement.
However, there doesn't necessarily need to be a NOTAM for movements, it's just normal that there is. The times in the NOTAM (in GMT, so beware!) are the times the airfield is open. They can be changed, brought forward or pushed back, or an aircraft can only fly for 30 minutes at some point during that time.
Oh, and there's no requirement to put a NOTAM up before the start of the NOTAM - it can go up at 0800z with a start time of 0800z.

Re: Exercise Ample Strike
I read somewhere (maybe Twitter?) that there are only four sorties planned across the two weeks in support of the exercise?

Or there could be multiple departures/arrivals ( or both ) within the timeframe of the NOTAM

Thanks HA, much appreciated. Are they likely to go out at some point this weekend or the next weekend?

Re: Exercise Ample Strike
I may be wrong , but if previous exercises are anything to go by they tend to be strictly Monday to Friday ... so unlikely there'll be any Weekend flights.

Just means operating remotely from fairford
Re: Exercise Ample Strike
B-1 opening the Sanicole sunset show at 18.00L so at least a Bone should be operating later...
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
Re: Exercise Ample Strike
Rumour among the chaps waiting here at Fairford that may be two B1 departures today, but could be wishful thinking. 86-0127 just gone up (first time its gone to Czech due excercise), and 85-0089 was started up briefly but now shut down again. Read into that what you will.

For anyone thinking of going to Fairford looks like only day next week for movementa will be Tuesday when they depart for airshow in Czech. No idea when or if they will be back at Fairford.

Re: Exercise Ample Strike
Any idea as to when they're leaving or perhaps due to leave somewhere? I really don't want to make the trip there to not catch one!
Re: Exercise Ample Strike
One of the B-1B has already departed. The other B-1B and B-52 are in the Czech Republic. According to posts on FC, they are due back from Ostrava tomorrow and departing back to the US on Tuesday
B-1B departing 10:20 CEST and the B-52 at 10.55 CEST, if they come straight back to Fairford should be back by mid day BST http://www.natodays.cz/departures

So if they're leaving tomorrow does anyone have an idea what time that will be? I'm a complete noob when it comes to this sort of thing.
Thanks
