So the rumours of the B2s only staying till the 13th have not played out then. Could we be getting them for the 2 months as mentioned by the press I wonder. Haven't heard any talk of them going home soon from any sites.

Bloody hell. :wall:

"Scalp 99" arrived around 45 minutes ago, having completed a flypast at Sanicole.

I know it's the Mail so journalistic standards are low, but even so...…...

I wonder if Mr Steve King got paid for his contribution. Nice photos though.

Had to switch the scanner off for work calls this morning but heard a lot of activity overhead so it sounds like it's been busy.

Just picked up MYTEE-91 on 133.750 inbound to Fairford though.

That's the B52 that has had 2 new engines and a new pylon fitted at Mildenhall, it had an emergency landing there on 17/06.

Thanks for the info, Eric.

I briefly caught sight of a heavy transport out of the window heading NNE earlier on so guessing that could be support for the B-52 in that case.

Just picked up REACH-247 on 133.750 not sure if it's inbound to Fairford or Brize at the moment.

I'd also like to thank Brevet for taking the time to post up the NOTAMs especially during the recent deployment - it's very much appreciated

U-2 departure ( or has the ones which arrived a couple of days ago already gone? ) and/or arrival?
Don't think there's anything else left there, is there?

I'm led to believe the U-2s are the start of the permanent stationing at Fairford.

NOTAM should be for the B-52 returning from Ostrava.

Where does this info come from? Not heard that U2s will be permanently stationed there.

It's just a normal swap-over of U2s, I'd also love to hear where you heard this info!

Various FC posts.

Many suggested that this was the beginning of the detachment but, that's obviously not correct, my apologies.

Probably a shoot in the dark but I would guess that after the U-2 was circuit bashing the other week people have thought it was conducting local familiarisation training flights, put two and two together and assumed from this a future detachment being based here?
