My brother dropped in en route to a meeting this morning and a local stated there would be no flying today, but "better tomorrow".

No NOTAM yet.....and the 'construction work' one one which has been on there for months has finally gone.

Edited to add...
Now there is -- only 3 hours, so either not a lot of activity or there'll be a follow-on one later :

B) FROM: 17/09/29 10:00
C) TO: 17/09/29 13:00
E) FAIRFORD MIL ATZ ACTIVE. AD, RWY 09/27 OPEN.

3 B-52s up ( MYTEE 51-53 ) routing towards Lands End

Edited to add....
Currently air-air on 268.3

There's also a KC-135 ( QUID 827 ) up routing towards Lands End, so possibly accompanying them ?

Yep, from what posts on Milscanners & FC would indicate.

Don't know if the U-2's still there or if that's gone as well.

I knew they were due, wasn't sure when.

Tomorrow should see a dilemma for some, then......B-1s to Fairford and the F-22s & F-35s to Lakenheath !

Not seen any times posted on any of the newsgroups or forums yet for either the LN or FFD arrivals.

Speaking of arrivals, this morning's Fairford one is 'HERKY 765', just heard comms with it reporting as routing via VLN then FFD ( it's currently in the descent just North of Yeovil )

HERKY 765 landed earlier, but the NOTAM's still up.

Quick turn-around, something else due in/out, or just that they're a bit slow taking the NOTAM down ?

Looks to be the first guess.....Just heard HERKY 765 up again, didn't catch which direction it's heading, though ( presume West or Southwest going by the transmission strength )

Edited to add....
Routing via Exmoor, so Southwest.

Edited again to add.....NOTAM now gone.

A little out of touch, but are there any 52’s or b1’s currently at FFD?

There is no ALTRV tomorrow for the fast jet, so could mean

1. It's not posted yet
2. Their not coming tomorrow
3. Their not coming from the US

If you believe one of the posters on FC, the F-22s arrived today & the F-35s aren't coming.

I know there was at least one KC-135 using the 'CLEAN' callsign which overflew the UK from East to West this morning but that/they(?) was last heard carrying on towards CONUS.

Not seen anything in any of the posts - including logs - on Milscanners yet.

He said he was talking to a Raptor pilot on base - if true, it will be one of those that came over on a support aircraft. No jets have arrived yet.

Rumours are that the F-35s are US Navy - support aircraft was into LN earlier this week. Would that make them F-35Cs?

The reason I'm dubious about his claim that they're already there is that of all the spotters who are normally lurking around there & all the people listening out on their scanners, nobody else has reported their arrival.
